Linda and the Brown Dawgs Saved JJ’s Life

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Serious stuff today.  Starting with the ending, JJ should be fine, we’ll know for sure by 9:30 a.m. **Update** – JJ and Mom just returned home.  She had endometriosis and beginning pyometra.  She did well in surgery, needs to be calm (hmpf) and should get back to her usual self soon.  Thanks to those who already wrote in asking how JJ was doing.

As many readers know, Mom and I still rank as Newbies in the PetBlog world.  We began my blog in October 2011, a few weeks after we lost Koko, Mom’s first ever K9.  You helped us welcome JJ, our new golden girl in December.  You even helped name her!

You may even recall that even though Animal Services told Golden Rescue South Florida JJ was that thing called spayed and GRSF told Mom the same, we had quite the surprise in February and again last Sunday.

When Linda, Storm, Thunder, Freighter and Nestle (of 2 Brown Dawgs fame) read our Mischief Monday post, Linda sent a comment back that something was wrong, to look up this big word called pyometra, and recommended that we call Dr. Shaffer.   Since Mom read their comment around midnight, she called first thing Tuesday.

Judy, who runs the front desk, left Mom feeling more comfortable, but said she would pass the question on to Dr. Shaffer and let Mom know.  Judy called Mom at work on Wednesday and said Dr. Shaffer tended to agree with Linda and the brown dawgs.   Since JJ had NO symptoms, Mom made the appointment for first thing yesterday.

Just in case, Mom restricted food and water after midnight in case JJ needed unexpected surgery.  Mom got the call at work again.  Judy said they would spay JJ and check for the scary stuff during surgery.  At day’s end, Judy called to say JJ did great in surgery, however, Dr. Shaffer hadn’t mentioned any further details.  JJ’s having a sleepover at Dr. Shaffer’s tonight to make sure everything is ok.  We already miss our cuddle bunny in bed!

Since Mom’s never had an unaltered K9, we would have never known (or for sure not as rapidly) about pyometra without Linda and the brown dawgs.

Thank you Linda, Storm, Thunder, Freighter and Nestle for saving our girl’s life and educating us.  Thanks in the larger sense to our new blogging friends, we never expected such support, connection and caring.

Another great, things will be ok with JJ, day.

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

We just updated the post letting everyone know our girl just got home. (Mom, too!) We’ll take good care of her, promise!

Mom never knew either, so scary… but… Dr. Shaffer did a good job on Miss JJ. Everyone at Paradise Animal Center treats her like the Princess she is. 🙂

  4. Hi sweet Jetty – thanks for the update – I have to work today and was so worried about her – thank goodness she’s ok. Poor Mom must be emotionally exhausted – sending JJ and Mom lots of comforting hugs. xoxoxo

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

You are the sweetest, kindest human… Mom had a big drive to Dr. Shaffer’s this morning and a bigger drive to this Las Olas place to visit with my Nana and Poppy today. We took a big snooze and we’re now gonna fuss over the Princess for the rest of the weekend. 🙂

  5. That’s scary stuff! I’m glad JJ turned out to be okay.

Dog bloggers are the very best people. I’m not surprised that they helped you out and were there for JJ! I hope she has a peaceful recovery and enjoys being spoiled for a few days!

    Bunny

    • Hey Bunny, Jet here.

      Indeed it is.

Thank you Bunny, please share our gratitude for your family’s kind wishes with all of them for us. 🙂

I’m trying to be Nurse Jetty, but, Mom says I cannot lick JJ’s stitches today.

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

    • Hey Hawk, Jet here.

As a fellow CBR, bet you’re not surprised at the Browndawgs resourcefulness.

Yup, Happy and a Grateful Mother’s Day at our house tomorrow. 🙂

We wish the same to your Mom… have a great weekend, Dude.

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Thanks Miss Wendy, we went to sleep a little earlier than usual. We all had a peaceful night. Mom enjoyed a nap and will watch the Heat game after she writes today’s post. (she’s taping it right now.)

What are you doing for your special day???

    • Hey Henry, Hey Zachary, Jet here.

Thanks so much, we are too… we weren’t sure if JJ would have the fussing gene like I do… seems like she does, so, guess Mom has an errand to run today… Can you say double Cones???

  8. Hi Jetty – OH NO – double cones!!! How is JJ doing today? Please wish your sweet, special Mom the Happiest Mothers Day! I hope she has a wonderful day xoxoxox

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Miss Wendy, no fair, JJ got a new-fangled one… except Mom cannot quite figure it out yet. 😦

Wishing you the sweetest, joyous Mother’s Day from us… we know what a bombdiggity Mom you are! (bombdiggity taken from our pal, Higgins!)

JJ is getting back to herself more today… can’t wait til she’s back to wrestling strength!

Sending Jetty Kisses to you on Mother’s Day. xoxoxoxoxox

    • Hey Flo, Jet here.

You are one smart K9. We know Dr. Rayya, however, she posted this before we met her blog. She educates so well, we understand pyometra better now. 🙂

  9. So glad that JJ is okay. How very scary for Mom and all of you. Jack and Ginger send big get well kisses to JJ. I know that you and Mom are spoiling her. Hugs to you Jetty and Mom too.

    • Hey Jack, Hey Ginger, Jet here. Hi Miss Rebecca.

Me too, yes, it was thing thing called dicey for a little while. Miss Rebecca, I will share Jack and Ginger’s get well kisses, JJ loves the kindness. 🙂

Dude, thanks for the manly man hug, I’ll give yours to Mom, too. Happy Mother’s Day Miss Rebecca. 🙂

  10. Oh Jet, Jet Mommy, and JJ! Mommy and i read this post twice just to make sure that we understood what JJ is going through and that she’s well. I’m so glad that JJ’s surgery went well, very very happy 😀 Thank goodness Linda and the Brown Dawgs picked up on that thing called Pyometra. :} We are very thankful for that too. =) I hope Jet Mommy, big bro Jet, and Jet family are doing okay? Remember to rest well and drink lotsa water ay? 🙂 Got to be strong and healthy to take care of JJ! :} We love you,and you’re in our thoughts :} Xoxoxo Poppy and Poppy’s Mom. ♥ Happy Mothers’ Day Mommy Jet! 😀 *Happy Poppy Dance*

    • Hey Little Sis Poppy, Big Bro Jet here.

You and JJ went through most of the same stuff, only your surgery was done at a better age… JJ is around 6, so potential for more complications.

My boo boos are getting better, so, I’m generally more comfortable and getting back to my full self. JJ had a good night’s sleep, so, she’s improving too. Thanks for your loving good wishes to you and your Mommy, Poppy. That means the world to us. We’re taking it easy today. Love your happy Poppy dance! 🙂 xoxoxo

Happy Mommy’s Day to your Mommy too!

  11. hiya, and thanks for stopping by my blog. Now about JJ, what a fright! I am sending emergency rations of purrs and paw hugs and ear pats right now…watch for them ‘cuz they will come air express! You all take care and HMD!

    • Hey Savannah, Jet here.

      Our pleasure, we loved it.

Thank you so much, we’ll be on the lookout for the ER rations of purrs, paw hugs, and ear pats coming by air express! How thoughtful and clever! Please accept Jetty kisses of appreciation in advance. JJ usually sends hugs, however, she’s needs her energy at the moment. 🙂

      • oh yes, I totally understand. But I would like some special licks when she feels up to it! We are an only cat household ‘cuz I am pretty anxious and my Gotcha date was only Jan 3 2012 so Mom and Dad and I are still finding out way with each other. You can see on my blog though that this used to be a multiple cat home AND also home to 3 Sibes. HMD again

      • Hey Savannah, Jet here.

Wow, congrats on your newish forever home. JJ’s gotcha date was 12/14/11… my feline brothers arrived in 2003 after 5 abusive/1 allergy homes, my sister Koko (may she be frolicking over the rainbow bridge) arrived in 2005 and I arrived in 2008. We’re all gotchas!!!

Yes it takes awhile to adjust, so, we’ll send you lots of “you’re safe now Jetty kisses and JJ hugs”, ok?

HMD to your human Mom, too! 🙂

  13. Oh wow. Sorry, I have been so behind I did not see this. I am glad you were able to get this taken care of and that JJ is safe. I am so glad I was not behind the day that I read your Monday Mischief post and that you made it the subject of your post. The reason that made me wonder about pyrometra is because a friend lost his beagle recently to that disease and she had a similar history…early season. She had no symptoms one minute and was very ill the next and did not make it. The condition is not that common, but it can happen. Hope JJ is on the mend now. I am overjoyed that it all worked out. 🙂

    • Hey Brown Dawgs, Jet here. Hi Miss Linda.

Boy are we grateful that you were up to date that day, too. Please send our condolences to your friend who lost his beagle.

We will be in the forefront of education on this one from now on, Miss Linda.

Jetty kisses and thank goodness JJ hugs. 🙂
