Hey It’s Jet Here.
Thanks to Sugar and Kol for initiating Tasty Tuesdays, today is our twenty-sixth participating post!
Mom told JJ and I that Fall officially began a little more than a week ago. Here in the tropics, Fall and Spring do not stand out, weather wise. To emphasize the change of seasons, residents:
- Accessorize the outside/inside of their homes with pumpkins, small gourds, and
- Indian corn trucked in from up North, (Mom bought our pumpkin on Sunday.)
- Incorporate winter squashes, cranberries, apples, pears, persimmons and pomegranates into our weekly shopping list
- Locate their slightly longer sleeved items! (In case they need them sometime in December, right before winter officially begins!)
- Speak wistfully (VBP – vocab builder project) about fall foliage from when many of them lived up North.
Mom thought a nice fall inspired dip might get us further in the mood. I enjoyed the yogurt part so much, Little Miss Too Late to the Container got shut out!
Cranberry Fruit Dip
1 cup vanilla nonfat yogurt
- ½ cup dried cranberries
- 1 tbs. fresh orange zest
- ¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp. ground ginger
- ¼ cup pomegranate juice
In a saucepan, heat pomegranate juice, cranberries and orange zest. Bring to a boil and cook until cranberries are soft. Remove from heat and place mixture in a food processor until cranberry mixture is finely chopped. Let cool. In a small bowl, combine yogurt, cranberry sauce and spices. Cover and chill. Serve with assorted fruits for dipping.
Another great any excuse for yogurt day.
I’ll save this too for later on.
I loved the cucumbers, this looks as easy as the cucumbers.
I gotta follow your mom’s page on facebook.
Hey Doggy, Jet here.
Yippee, glad you liked the cucumbers, Miss Ellen’s family did as well. 🙂
Mom’s class enjoyed the dip, with her computer issues, she could not find her pictures. 😦
Please do, she would love to have you “like” her Kitchen Counselor page. You may enjoy her 2x/month newsletter too! You can subscribe to that at http://www.thekitchencounselor.com (she’s delayed at the moment because all of her files are in OUTLOOK. 😦
This sounds really yummy! Mom has to start looking for things to take to her inlaws for Thanksgiving. She hates that part of the holiday (finding things that everyone might like)! Shhhhhhh! Don’t tell anybody cause she could get in trouble! Of course, us dogs would like anything she would make for us but we aren’t so lucky! She is thinking this dip might be something she could try! Have a great day!
Hey Scout, Hey Teddy, Hey Ash, Jet here.
So glad you like the idea. Mom asked me to share that if your Mom would like, they could have a chat and Mom could do her Kitchen Counselor thingie and help your Mom and then send her the recipes. (Yeah, I know, they would end up talking about the Thunder and Heat, too!) If that is of interest, let her know on comments, because, as you know, we are still in email HEdouble toothpicks.
Mom has LOTS of turkey day ideas at her finger tips… 🙂
My mom says that if your mom wants to give her some ideas she would really appreciate it! She hates to make things to take to the in-laws!!!!
Can they speak by phone? much easier… Mom will email you our # if you wish.
Sounds good anything with pomegranate is supposed to be very healthy
urban hounds
Hey Urban Hounds, Jet here. Hi Miss Kate.
Oh indeed, pomegranate is wonderful for you humans… no doubt us K9s as well.
Woof! Woof! You got orange zest in your dip. Mom loves dip recipes. Golden Thanks for sharing. Happy Tasty Tuesday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Hey Sugar, Jet here.
What a lovely coincidence! Blogville can enjoy both our posts together! 🙂
If you Mom makes the dip, let us know how she likes it.
YUM! But now I’m really hungry for some reason!
Hey Brian, Jet here.
How do you think JJ, PUffy and I feel!!! Mom always has lots of interesting aromas in the kitchen!
This sounds very healthy! I love fall recipes too. We also suffer from not having a real winter here. But I do get excited when I get to wear my sweaters! Even though it will only dip to 60 degrees – I feel cold since I get so used to 110 degrees! 🙂
Hey Blueberry, Jet here.
In general, (with the exception of ICE CREAM), Mom really enjoys healthy eating. Oh, gosh, you get it! People in the tropics pull out their heavy coats at 50, which sounds nutty until you realize the temperature may have been 90 the day before!
This dip just sounds amazing. Your Momma just has some of the best recipes!
Hey Fred, Hey Gloria, Jet here. Hi Miss Janet.
Well thanks bunches on behalf of Mom. Mom asked me to share that she’s always had a knack for recipe selection. As the Kitchen Counselor, that sure comes in handy! Not everyone is a scratch cook and Mom finds recipe selection empowering.
hey Jet,
Another tasty recipe from your mom! My human can’t wait to try it.
Autumn is wonderful! The leaves are changing here, but nothing like the North Eastern states see in the magnificent colors the leaves turn. Still, we get some color so that helps me know Winter is just around the corner! Yay for snow!
Suka
Hey Suka, Jet here. Hi Miss K.
So happy your Miss K likes it. Will she share some of the yogurt with you?
Mom’s from the NE, so, she remembers… she loved to go apple picking in particular. She does NOT miss raking leaves! BOL…
I donts eat dips but mama do! She likes this one an said she could share with me iffen she leave out the nutmeg so could she use cinnamon?
Hey Kirby, Jet here.
Absolutely, use cinnamon, use cardamom, either will do! 🙂 Dude, get your paws on the YOGURT!
YUM, YUM…I really got to try this dip. We love yoghurt too! Your yoghurt-covered snooter is very cute indeed, hehe.
Sankissjuice
Hey Rich Boy, Jet here.
We just got our mouths wiped from drooling over your post!
Glad you enjoyed the dip recipe… oh, putting my whole face into the yogurt container was the BEST! 🙂
Mom couldn’t reply to your mom’s reply, but she said to tell your mom that she can email her at dogsnpawz@yahoo.com! She also said that your mom might give her some good times to call so she won’t call her at a bad time! Tell your mom thanks for us!
Mom just sent an email!!
Hi sweet Jetty – I agree with the other bloggers, your Mom does have the best receipes – this one will be perfect for me to make for a school event coming up! So cute how you said get your paws on the yogurt! You crack me up Jetty- so poor little JJ didn;t get any??? but you did look very adorable with yogurt on your face!
How did you guys do with all the rain today – it just won’t stop! I was up super early with Miss Cassie so I;m off to bed.
sending oodles of goodnight hugs ans kisses to you, JJ, Mom, Rachel and Puffy xoxoxox
Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.
Well thank you on Mom’s behalf… (call her ANY time and she’ll help you select… she loves that stuff… guess that’s why she loves being the Kitchen Counselor! 🙂
I do have a rapier (VBP – vocab builder project) wit, if I don’t say so myself! BOL.
JJ enjoys the chewy things more… she’s attention driven more than food driven!
Aw shucks Miss Wendy, I’m blushing.
Oh Miss Wendy, Mom had to cajole (VBP) me with roasted chicken just to do a potty this a.m. Yesterday I refused. Tonight we got 1/2 way down the block with Neve and Miss Beverly before the sky dropped big circles of cold rain. Luckily, I did my business, so, I feel ok. Mom said enough is enough with the rain already.
Sending sweet dream Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to you, Mr. David, Jacob, Cassie, Rex and Barkley xoxoxoxo
Oh boy does this sound good
Benny & Lily
Hey Benny, Hey Lily, Jet here.
Mom asked me to share that her class really enjoyed it!
Hurray that you got to help!!
Hey Dalton, Jet here.
I’m one of Mom’s Official Kitchen K9s! 🙂
Sounds posh!!
Hey Dalton, Jet here.
Really? Really? We’ve never had a recipe called post before… 🙂
I is sure it is!!
🙂
This sounds fantastic! And the dogs are crazy about yogurt 🙂
Hey Rudy, Hey Jeffie, Jet here. Hi Miss Sue.
If you decide to make it, let us know how it goes. 🙂
That sounds wonderful!
Hey Clowie, Jet here.
So glad you think so… let us know if you make it. 🙂
Oh dat sounds so good. A refreshing treat fur here in Florida!
Hey Amber, Jet here.
Glad you think so! We appreciate positive feedback from a fellow Floridian! 🙂
That sounds yummy Jetty!! And fairly easy too. My question, can you and JJ eat the rest of the stuff in the dip? I’m thinking it would be a good treat to top a Kong or bone off. 🙂
Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi.
Glad you like the idea! Mom has two concerns: Orange zest may need more investigation. Sugar had a great post on Tuesday about oranges and their K9 safety. As to the cranberries, too many may cause, um… you know, um… flatulence (VBP)… And, Mom’s not sure about nutmeg… fun idea for a topper, very creative!!
