Tasty Tuesday: Cooking with Sister

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Thanks to Sugar and Kol for initiating Tasty Tuesdays, today is our eleventh participating post!

On Friday, my human sister Rachel offered to make dinner for her friend/boy (she’s a teen; you’re not supposed to ask a lot of questions!).  She made steak and sweet potato fries.

Little Miss JJ Homemaker, offered to help, take notes or sous chef!

Remember, K9s can have sweet potato and most of us REALLY like them. Mom would recommend salt free for us (many humans too).  Here’s the recipe for:

Easy Peasy Sweet Potato Oven Fries

(We were tempted to call them Miami Heat Fries because Game 4 of the NBA final is tonight and the fries fit Heat Colors!)

Preheat oven to 400.

  • Peel a few large sweet potatoes.
  • Slice into matchstick or wedge style fries.
  • Sprinkle with olive oil and massage. (You can do this on the tray or in a bowl and then place in one layer on tray.)
  • (If you’re making separate batches for humans and K9s then you can spice up the human batch with cumin, chili pepper, coriander, garlic powder, onion powder or a Cajun blend, bbq blend, salt and pepper, have fun)
  • Place in oven for about 10-15 minutes.
  • With tongs, turn the fries over and/or move them around.
  • Bake for another 10-15 minutes (depending on their size, you may need to adjust) until they crisp up.
  • Remove, let cool if you can resist!

Another great, and sweet day!

CORRECTION: ON SATURDAY’S POST, SNOOPY’S SPONSOR IS PETSMART, NOT PETCO… Sorry, guess Mom was tired!

    • Hey Emma, Jet here.

Sweet Emma, you do NOT know what you’re missing! Tell Mom she can use same procedure for white potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, sweet red pepper, zucchini and yellow squash! Does that help? Merci

  1. Thanks for recipe, I think I’ll be trying that (not that my mad-cap husband will touch sweet potatoes). Regarding the teens and questions: my nephew has friends and People, or Person in the singular (we have figured out that People, are girls and friends are boys, or girls that hold no interest). People, or a Person, is always to be pronounced with great emphasis on the “P” – no idea why.

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Susan.

Most welcome… As I told my K9 friend, Emma, you can use the same procedure for white potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, sweet red pepper, zucchini and yellow squash (and onions for humans only)! Does that help?

Mom asked me to share that nephew’s terms are so funny! We will have to check in with sister to see if she knows of this method of naming. 🙂

  2. hey Jet,

*drool…Sweet potatoes are so good! My human, K, loves them so thankfully I get some. She has made sweet potato fries as well, they are yummy!

Very sweet of your hu-sis Rachel cooking dinner for her friend/boy. Very cute photos! Hope it was a nice time!

    • Hey Suka, Jet here. Hi Miss K.

Oh yes, friend/boy (we think it’s now boy/friend) enjoyed and even helped clean the pan!

JJ and I chaperoned and also hoped for some tidbits. boy/friend is a cat person… but, I can tell we’re already wearing him down. 🙂

      Enjoy your yummy fries, too!

  3. Hi sweet Jetty – I loved the pic of Rachel and her helper JJ – just love the way JJ is looking right at Rachel – what a great helper! (thats great that Rachel has a boy/friend, Jacob has yet to speak to a girl!!)

Thanks for the yummy recipe – I like sweets pots and they are so healthy!

sending GO HEAT goodnight hugs and kisses to you, JJ, Mom,Rachel, and Pluffy xoxoxoxo

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Mom did, too… she thought JJ looked precious and Rachel looked like the lovely teacher she wants to become. I know, can you believe it? He’s super tall, 6’4 and a cutie!

Most welcome, we give the recipe a 4 paw rating.

Oh Miss Wendy, the game rocked… I visited Mom for the last quarter, she tells me the team needs my energy and good wishes at that time. Boy, I’m kinda powerful, since, I’ve helped them win lately… BOL…

Sending, YIPPEE, Heat won early Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to you, Mr. David, Jacob, Cassie, Rex and Barkley xoxoxoxo

    • Hey Bunny, Jet here.

Yes, I have the same issue when Mom or Rachel make these treats… Sometimes, Mom cannot even get to the containers before we finish all the roasted veggies! I’d give this a 4 paw rating for sure. 🙂

  4. Those look really yummy! If it wasn’t so darn hot here, (too hot for the oven), I would be trying them soon…lol. I am going to copy the recipe though. Thanks!

    • Hey brown dawgs, Jet here. Hi Miss Linda.

Since we live in the tropics, we have that air condition stuff… Mom keeps in kind of warmish because of biscuit $, however, it’s still 25 – 30 degrees colder in the house than outside!!! So glad you liked the recipe, we’ll look forward to your future feedback. nom, nom, nom…

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Andrea.

Mom asked me to share that she really enjoyed yesterday! Thanks for your kind words on our blog! 🙂

Hope Richard and Michael enjoyed the game as much as we did…
