leaky roofWell, since last I posted, we’ve had a little cold snap, after a few days of much needed rain. Since the rain did not bring booms and streaky lights, Little Miss Barkarooni and I experienced only mild anxiety after such a long dry stretch. The only wrinkle… raindrops in the kitchen from the leaky roof again… why the humans cannot figure this out, I’m not sure.  (The temperature is back to normal now.)

Mom went behind our backs, well, onscreen actually and made an agreement with Mr. Ritchie to write for some of his clients as well as do this thingie called “take some meetings” for him, too. Yeah, yeah, I know, we’re watching her. She mentioned that she needs to acquire more biscuit money and with writing, she can work more from home.

dog in bedMom goes for check up #2 tomorrow; she’s doing this weaning off some of the medicines thingie which makes her happy. I heard her talking to EVERYONE about the expensive medicines this Crohns stuff requires. Perhaps that’s another reason for the extra work… I remain quite strict about her breaks when she’s home. I have the “right front paw on thigh reminder” move and the “up and down with my muzzle under her hands” move, and her favorite… the “curl up and cuddle next to her” move. (Wednesday – Dr. V said she’s doing well and for now, does not need the 2nd group of medication.)

Whoops, I digressed big time… ok, back to Tasty Tuesday… This turned out to be a MAJOR Digression since the recipe we wanted to feature no longer shows online and Mom didn’t have time to type it out…and then Tasty Tuesday was OVER.

A pack mate is having surgery today and we’re helping out a little… We’re grateful she will have this task behind her after today. Nurse Jetty promises visits and lovies during the healing process.

Mr. Ritchie brought Mom in on another 2 projects this week; she’s “taking another meeting” today. And… you know where? At WHOLE FOODS! Hmpf… I’m trying with my whole self to think happy thoughts. However: A. that means Mom will be out for a bit on her “in the house day” and B. hopefully, she will keep her priorities in check and bring her essential, vital, Paw-Jetindispensible Kitchen K9s a tidbit or two from such a delectable Paw-Jet shop. She’s also signed up to try this neurofeedback Paw-Jet stuff today to help manage life’s stressors. Apparently she needs another “K9 Way of Life” tutorial.

Mom asked me to share that she’s Thankful today because she found an old pair of sneakers from years ago still intact. As you can see from this photo, two holey shoes does not make for a comfortable walk in the wet grass, gravel, etc…

Another great big digression day.

  1. We’re so glad to hear your mom got such a good report from her doctor! That makes us all smile a lot. We joined your VBP blog hop for the first time today – it was fun writing the post! Mmmmm, Whole Foods – my family goes shopping there every week because six months ago, they made what they call a “lifestyle change” to eat “cleaner foods” on their permanent anti-inflammatory diet (all these weird terms I never heard before). They do have a lot more energy and my mom lost 24 pounds, so they’re pretty happy sticking to it. Anyway, thanks for hosting the blog hop, and I hope your mom remembers to take her breaks! You’re doing a great job as Nurse Jetty! 🙂

  2. We have been getting some rain here too. But not really any cold snaps. I don’t think winter ever even came to Texas this year. You’re such a good boy making sure your mom is well taken care of Nurse Jetty! Keep up the good work.

    • Hey Y-Bo, Jet here. Hi Miss Loy.

Thanks Miss Loy, I do take my responsibilities quite seriously. Yesterday my skill set was focused on Miss Mary Ann, since she had surgery. Yes, that silly roof, it seems to vex all the professionals and therefore, MOM!

  3. So glad to hear that your Mom might not need the second lot of meds. You have obviously been looking after her really well Jetty. I love the way you ensure she takes her proper breaks. Who could ever say no to you? The extra biscuit earning work sounds like a really good thing, although I know it means she’ll be out of your care for a while.

    • Hey Lady Litchi, Hey Sabre, Hey Boks, Jet here. Hi Miss Susan.

Oh she’s super happy about the possibility. Yes, we watch her like hawks… (although we pretend we’re laid back!) Oh shucks Miss Susan, thanks for saying that, I feel a blush coming on…

Yes, extra biscuit money is most definitely necessary with all those coat button pills and everything! (She’s got some technical issues again, too… the good thing is if the work is writing, she can do so from my favorite room, the office!

  4. Hi Jetty and mom! So good to see a post…we love you and are happy to hear that you mom seems to be getting better! Take good care of her! Have mom make your biscuits…that saves on some money I bet and fresh baked is so yummy, trust me I am a baking dog 🙂

    • Hey Emma, Jetty here. Hi Katie.

Oh, Emma, you are the K9 baker Extraordinaire! Hey, now that you mention it, what a great idea… Excuse me a moment… Hey MOOOOMMMMMMMMM, Emma recommended that you BAKE biscuits to save $$…. how about it Mom, we saw that carob powder in the bottom of the pantry! Emma, you’re a genius!

    • Hey Benny, Hey Lily, Jetty here.

Mom finally scrounged up another pair of walking sneakers. She’s not sure if she should pitch the other pair or simply put it with Little Miss I Must Swing Mom’s Sneakers While Holding on to the Laces toy collection.

  5. I’m tickled to hear that mom is feeling better! AND especially that she can get off some of those icky medicines. I know they can really cost a lot of biscuits. 😦 Thankfully you are there to keep her on task Jetty, I’m sure she wouldn’t know what to do without you. Please tell her I’m thinking of her.

    • Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi.

So true, so true… Thanks for thinking of her… She told me she has to call that insurance company to ask lots of hopefully biscuit saving questions!

    • Hey Austin, Jetty here.

Good one… whole life is a digression… guess that’s good because it means you’re having quite a journey!

I like that… a good old chap… excuse me a minute… Hey MOOOOMMMM, Austin said I’m a good old chap, I kind of like that idea. 🙂

  6. Hi Jet and Mom, you guys sure have a lot going on this week! I didn’t know your mom has Crohn’s, another dear pal’s dad has it too; I’m told it can be a real stinker. Good news that your weaning off some medications. Hope surgery goes well today; know you’ll make a very good nurse. Thank you for joining Thankful Thursday Blog Hop; always enjoy reading your posts (even though sometimes I don’t get to post a comment; I always read everything!) I’m going to have a go at joining your hop too, that way we can help each other out. *moondances across room* :=o)

    • Hey Pepi, Jet here.

      Moondance – most impressive!

We love your hop because there is always so much to be thankful for. 🙂 No worries about the comments, we’re off those right now, too.

We’re proud of Mom and her weaning… she’s doing lots of cooking and experimenting to see what works, too… we like that part A LOT! 🙂

    • Hey Lee, Hey Phod, Jetty here.

Oh gosh, she needs to afford those hefty medicines, so, she’s working hard. (yet carefully….) She’s taking it in stride, we’re helping her with that part. 🙂

  7. So nice to see this post Jetty!!!! Im glad you are taking good care of your mom, give her and yourself a hug from me. Oh drats I forgot to pawticipate this week, but have been for the last two weeks. Will have to get on it soon!

  8. Hi Jet! Gracie here, I’ve missed you! Hope your mom gets well soon, though how could she not with nurse Jetty taking care of her! My mom gets sick in her tummy too sometimes and I help out by snuggling up to her when she lies down. Never underestimate the healing power of a warm snuggly dog snuggled up to you when feeling poorly.

  9. It’s BJ. Jetty, tell your mom that mom and I happy she is feeling better and is off some of her meds. You are very good to make sure she takes her breaks. She needs you for her stress relief. Hugs and Woofs, BJ

  10. I am pleased to see your nursing skills are doing wonders for your mum! Keep up the good work, and don’t forget the ‘I’m starving and you have to give me a treat now’ routine, means she will get up and walk around every 10 mins or so as sitting for too long is bad!

  11. Hey Jetty. Glad to hear things are going well down there. You better keep an eye on mom; don’t let her do too much too fast…all that “work” may be too much for her. Why you have a leaky roof? Do you need Ma and Daddy-dog to come down there and patch it for you? BOL You know they do that when they volunteer with Habitat (and let’s just say they had to patch our roof last year – and of course, they didn’t even realized it leaked until rainy season was upon us). Well pal…you have a great weekend. Give you mom some *Cairn cuddles* from me.

  12. Hi Jet…Nylablue & I loved your blog of digression…sounds like you have your paws full with your Humans & everything else going on!!
You look so fetching in your Nurse’s cap!!!! I bet you are a fabulous canine Nurse!!
    We love ya, Sherri-Ellen & Nylablue too…

  13. Hey Jet,

So happy to hear that you’re doing such a great job at looking after your Mom and that she’s doing extra things she loves with Mr Ritchie, how awesome!

I’m sure your Mom won’t forget to bring you guys some goodies when she comes back from the Whole Foods place, my Mum wishes we had one of those too, but I think it’s a super long way from our house,

Big hugs ‘n’ wags to you all,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  14. Jet, you must be the best dog ever! It’s good to hear that you’re taking such good care of your mum. Also good to hear she’s working so much!
