Farewell Fluffy…

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Sad day at Casa Jet.  Mom and Rachel took our beloved feline, Fluffy, to Dr. Schaffer this morning to peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge.  Mom told him how much she loved sharing her world with him and bringing him peace after a terrible beginning.  She asked him to say hello to Mugs and Koko for us.

We thought we would share a few tidbits about Fluffy as a fitting tribute.

Mom and Rachel adopted Puffy and Fluffy from Cat Network in 2003.  They had been in five abusive (let’s just say the stories would make your paws curl) and one allergic house over three years.  Their names were Putter and Gypsy before Rachel dubbed them Puffy and Fluffy at age 9!  After 15 ½ years with Mugs, her tabby, having long haired boys seemed decadent.

Fluffy always exhibited a sweet nature except when wrestling with Puffy, the instigator.  Mom tried all types of treats and toys with no luck.  The best present she ever gave them was a grocery bag.  Fluff spoke to Mom non-stop, he was a regular chatterbox.  Some people told Mom he sounded like he said Maaah-Maaah!  He had different sounds when speaking, making the chatter sound like a meaningful conversation.  Mom spoke back which made for funny observations.

Fluffy appreciated drinking from any human sink; Mom tapped her nail on the basin to orient Fluffy to the water flow.  He also liked to read; and by that I mean, face Mom with his chin in the spine of the open page.  If that didn’t suit Mom, he would sit on her chest and block the page she was on until she adjusted the book’s position side to side.

Mom was fascinated by Fluffy’s care of her midsection.  He took the job of purring water bottle and feline masseuse, kneading the area when called for.

As we bid Fluffy safe passage over the Rainbow Bridge, all of us at Casa Jet offer our gratitude for our time shared with Fluffy, our sweet, gentle boy.

Another… not so great day.

    • Hey Fred, Hey Gloria, Jet here. Hi Miss Janet.

Thanks guys, your words and thoughts mean a great deal to all of us.

Mom told Rachel and Miss Judy all about you today, because when they arrived at Dr. Schaffer’s, they were met by a beautiful basset!

  1. Oh guys, we are so so sorry to hear about the loss of sweet Fluffy. We know he will be truly missed by all of you. Thank you for saving his life and showing him what love was!! We hope all of the good memories bring you comfort during this rough time. Hugs and kisses to you all.

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Deanna.

Oh thank you so for sharing your kind thoughts. Yes, Mom and Rachel reminisced about many of Fluff’s escapades and tried to laugh and smile through the tears. xoxoxoxoxx right back. 🙂

BTW, we were so sad about the BSL vote on Tuesday. Mom actually thought of you as she voted. 🙂

  2. Oh no. I am so very sorry for your loss. Fluffy was a beautiful cat! He was lucky to have found your mom. I hope you can take comfort in your memories and the knowledge that you gave him a good home and a wonderful life filled with love.

Hugs to you all. Run free now, Fluffy.

    • Hey Bella, Jet here. Hi Miss Leslie.

Thank you for taking the time to send us your kind condolences.

We thought so, too, beautiful inside and out as Mom always tells us. Yes, Mom especially takes comfort knowing he lived a gentle, loving life after such a terrible beginning. Yes, we hope he is visiting and chatting with all those who are welcoming him OTRB. 🙂

  3. Awwww no. I am so sorry. Fluffy was beautiful. I am sure Grouik has welcomed him and showed him around by now. He was also lucky to have you.
My human says your Mom can email her if she feels like it. We know there is little we can do or say to ease the pain but we share virtual hugs and purrs.

    • Hey Texas, Jet here. Hi Miss Carine.

Thank you for your kind words and knowing Grouik will welcome him comforts us deeply. We feel so blessed to receive such love, purrs and woofs, makes all the difference. 🙂

  4. So sorry for the loss of your beloved Fluffy – may he run young and healthy again at Rainbow Bridge and frolic with KoKo and Mugs – he was very beautiful and so lucky to have lived in your wonderful home surrounded by love and kindness – sending hugs xoxoxox

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Oh Miss Wendy, you’re reading Mom’s mind again… that’s what she asked Fluffy to do when she was in the room with him and Dr. Schaffer.

Thank you for acknowledging his good years with Mom, Rachel, (Mr. Fred, back in the day) and all of us.

    • Hey Dakota, Jet here. Hi Miss Caren. Hi to your feline (we forget the name), too!

Thank you so much for your kind condolences and acknowledging the life we gave Fluff. Mom forgot to mention that she told Puff and Fluff in August of 2003 that the moment they set foot into her home, they would be treated as Princes the rest of their lives.

Mom said thank you for appreciating our tribute. 🙂

  5. Oh this is so sad. I understand that there are no words with which to comfort you at the moment but my thoughts are with you and may God give you strength during this terrible time. Thank you for sharing Fluffy’s stunning pictures with us. I feel your pain. I am now at a loss for words.

    • Hey Litchi, Hey Boks, Jet here. Hi Miss Susan.

Your kindness and generosity of thoughts and support are just perfect Miss Susan and… deeply appreciated. 🙂

We wanted to show you pics of Fluff at healthier times, he was a handsome boy. 🙂 We’re already missing his purrs…

  6. I am so sorry for your loss of Fluffy. We had a kitty pass on last summer and it was so sad, we actually lost all 3 of our German cats in the last 4 years. I am sure Fluffy will be busy with all the other kitties hunting mice and birds and romping around OTRB but that does not help our sadness. I will try to be nice to my newer set of cats for a day in honor of Fluffy. Even though they are pests I would be very sad if they left us. Emma

    • Hey Emma, Jet here.

Thanks for your thoughtful words. Sorry to read of your losses as well. We smile at the thought of Fluff hunting mice and birds since he’s been an inside feline!

Oh yes, we like the idea of a day of kindness to felines… Puffy thwapped JJ but good today when she tried to divert Rachel’s attention from the Puffster!

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Beth.

Sorry we’re meeting on a day like today, however, we so deeply appreciate you taking the time to send condolences. Oh, we like thinking that Fluffy will have so many wonderful anipals to play with over the Rainbow Bridge. 🙂

  7. Oh Lori and Jet, I am so sorry to hear about you loss of Fluffy. I know all of you loved him and gave him the best years of his life. Hugs. Jack and Ginger send their love.

    • Hey Jack, Hey Ginger, Jet here. Hi Miss Rebecca.

Thank you for your kind words. We sure did, we loved him to pieces as Mom always says. He was my first feline friend/brother. 🙂

Please thank Jack and Ginger too. 🙂

    • Hey it’s Jet here. HI Miss Wendy.

Mom asked me to share her deep appreciation for your call today. She could feel your hugs over the cell towers. 🙂

Since we all know how pawesome your hugs are, we are most grateful. xoxoxoxo

    • Hey Savvy, Jetty here. Hi Miss Linda.

Mom asked me to share how thoughtful and supportive your Mom’s call was today.

Your condolences are graciously and gratefully accepted Savvy. He was a really sweet guy… he and I sniffed each other’s heads this morning to say goodbye. 🙂

      • Purrfect! And Miss Lori…Mom just learned today, as she was still catching up…that Miss Bernadette over at The Creative Artist also lost her precious Kelly in the last week..Kelly was about 18 or 19…but she looked just like Mom’s sweet Tasha before me sister…so much leaky eyes today…many hugs, Savvy

      • Hey Savvy, Big Guy here. Hi Miss Linda.

We just read and commented over at The Creative Cat, thanks for letting us know.

Yes, it’s a leaky eye day for sure. We appreciate your hugs. xoxox

  8. Jetty, we are very sorry to hear about Fluffy’s passing. He sounds like the very best kind of cat, and we’re glad he finally found his home with you! Our thoughts are with you!

    Bunny

    • Hey Bunny, Jet here.

Thank you for your thoughtful condolences. He really was a sweet feline, he and I always got along well, although for a guy, he was VERY chatty! Mom felt so grateful for the opportunity to show him what a loving forever home felt like. 🙂

  9. I’m so sorry to hear your sad news about Fluffy – he looked like he was a beautiful boy. May he enjoy all the grocery bags and running taps he likes over the Rainbow Bridge, where he can play to his heart’s content with fluffy friends…

    Big cuddles from Solo…

    • Hey Solo, Jet here.

Thank you so very much for your kind words and comforting images. We love thinking that Fluff will enjoy all his favorite activities in comfort and good company over the Rainbow Bridge. 🙂

We love cuddles, thanks for sending some our way. 🙂

  10. So sorry about Fluffy, Jet and Jet’s mom 😦
I know how it feels to lose such caring and incredible pet. Fluffy will meet my Kame up on the rainbow Bridge.

Bye bye Fluffy…say hi to my baby if you meet her 🙂

    • Hey Papoe, Hey Kroten, Jet here. Hi Miss Novroz.

Thank you for your kind words. We know you understand and know that Kame will show Fluffy the way when they meet over the Rainbow Bridge. They both had such sweet personalities, no doubt they will be best of friends. 🙂

  11. Five abusive homes??!! it sounds like you and your family did the most amazing job of showing them what a loving home really was and it made me smile reading about the antics! Sending much love xx

  12. I am so very sorry for your loss. Having our dear friends leave us is one of the most difficult things ever, especially when we have to make the choice for them sometimes. 😥 Thoughts are with you.

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Elizabeth.

We just visited your site. Again, we’re sad to meet you under these circumstances, however, found comfort in your post about Timothy. Indeed, making the choice is difficult, however, Mom believes strongly in a life with dignity, without suffering. From that perspective, the decisions are a smidge easier.

  14. We are so sorry about Fluffy. It is so hard to loose a pet and a friend. We feel your pain as we are going through the same thing with Shiloh right now. We are so afraid she won’t be with us for long and all mom does is cry:( And hearing about your beloved Fluffy made her cry even more.

We are thinking about you guys…of course, with tears running down our cheeks. RIP Fluffy.

    • Hey Dogs N Pawz, Jetty here.

You know, we wondered what was up. Mom tried to list all the fur family members and your Mom replied with only two. We didn’t want to pry.

Oh, please know we send Jetty kisses, JJ hugs and hugs from Mom, Puffy and Rachel. Mom also sends light and love for the best possible outcome.

I may have to lick a few tears off Mom’s cheeks now…

Thank you for your kind words of support.

  15. Gosh Jetty, I’m a bit behind in my reading but just wanted to let everyone at Casa Jet know how sad I was to hear about Fluffy. I’m sure you all have wonderful memories of him and just talking about him and all the joy he brought will help ease your sadness.

I’m sending you some sweet hugs. 🙂

      • Hey Jazz Cat Jay, Jet here.

Please accept our lengthy delay in responding to your thoughtful condolence, we’ve been inundated with kindness. We are adjusting to a quieter house, without our sweet, chatty boy.

  17. No, it’s never a good day when we have to say good-bye to an old friend. We’re very sorry for your loss. Fluffly sounds like he was quite a character and landed in a good home with you. Purrs and pawhugs.

    • Hey JFF, Jet here. Hi Miss Jan.

Can we say embarrassed? We cannot believe we are just now getting to the bottom of our comment box. Please, please forgive our horrible manners. We so deeply appreciated your TIMELY words of care and support when we lost Fluffy. Sadly, in the interim, we’ve lost his litter mate, Puffy, too. We’re adjusting to a house without felines; it’s weird, though. We appreciate the purrs and paw hugs deeply.

    • Hey Fenris, Hey Socks, Hey Scylla, Jet here.

  37. We are so sorry to hear about Fluffy, however we understand the joys of adopting older cats – we took in three when their owner died and never regretted it. Hugs and purrs of comfort from all of us…..Mindy, Moe, Cookie and Mike

    • Hey Mindy, Hey Moe, Hey Cookie, Hey Mike, Jet here.

Thanks so very much. The feline blogosphere has really expanded my thoughts on felines! Team Tabby, love it… BOL!

Sorry to make your acquaintance under these circumstances. Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words of support. Mom always adopts older felines/canines, glad your human did for you guys, too. (Mom’s NJ term of endearment!)

  38. I’m sorry to learn about your beautiful kitty. That is such a hard decision and makes for a not-great day all right. I hope you will gain comfort from your memories and from knowing that you gave Fluffy a very Good Life.

    • Hey Toby, Jet here. Hi Miss Amy.

Thank you. Yes, Mom and Rachel cried, yet knew they did the right thing. We will all hold Fluffy’s memory in our heart pockets, as Mom recommended. You are so kind to take the time to share words of comfort and support. 🙂

    • Hey brown dawgs, Jet here. Hi Miss Linda.

No worries, we’re behind too, as a result of tech issues and the most generous outpouring of support for the loss of my sweet feline brother. 🙂

  39. We’re not sure why our first post got lost, but we’re sure glad we came back to read more of the comments others left and saw that ours had gone missing! Oh, to think you might not have known we cared….

We just wanted you to know how much your story touched us. To think you gave two kittehs a wonderful life, and years of joy to wipe away the bad memories. We love talkers in our home, and Fluffy calling you mama is so precious! Hugs and purrs to you at this time, and we pray the pain of loss eases and only sweet beloved memories remain.

    • Hey FaRaDaY, Hey Maxwell, Hey Allie, Jet here.

Oh gosh, thank you for your heart felt words, we so deeply appreciate them. Sorry they got lost, too, so, confusing this tech stuff… We leave it to Mom and poor thing, she’s a bit challenged! We would NEVER think that of you, my Tonk friends and Allie. Your Mom is super nice for transcribing and sharing your comforting words… no wonder she’s such a grand success at that “you know” company! We would write her a recommendation ANYTIME! 🙂

You put Mom’s wishes for the boys in such lovely words, thank you. Mom said we will carry Fluff’s memory in our heart pockets forever.

    • Hey Sherlock, Jet here.

Please forgive our lengthy delay in response to your kind and thoughtful message. We were so inundated with kindness, Mom’s work, and extra project for Mom, and that pest Tropical Storm Isaac that we our still cleaning out our comment box.

We received your love and comfort and it truly made a difference. We are adjusting to the quieter house as our sweet chatterbox no longer purrs here. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and I hope we can communicate under much happier circumstances. 🙂
