Mischief Monday: Hide and Seek

Hey It’s Jet Here.

For the last few days, Puffy, JJ and I played Hide and Seek with Mom.  We looked high and low for Mom, taking rests in between.

We checked out her usual spots…

The kitchen…

The garage…

The family room…

The office including mancave #1…

The bedroom…

The bathroom…

No MOM!

And then we had a Pow-Wow where I, Detective Jetty, reminded them about this clue…

Uh oh… MOM left us!  Ok, in fairness, we had a super time with our special friend, Miss Angela. And… it was Mom’s first vacation day from work in 17 months!  When she returned last night and gave us tons of lovies while explaining that she went to this place called Cleveland for her summer camp reunion (after 35 years)… we forgave her for making us look so long to find her!

Thanks to Alfie’s BlogSnoopy’s Dog BlogMy Brown Newfies and Luna, A Dog’s Life…for sponsoring the hop!  Click on any of the sponsors to join the hop.

Another great Cleveland Camp Truda reunion day!

Follow Up Friday: Neve’s Birthday Stretch Edition

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Our friend, Miss Jodi, Heart Like a Dog, initiated this great idea to update readers on previous posts.  She created a lovely badge to go with her idea and recently turned her wonderful idea into a new blog hop!  Congrats!

Saturday: A Little Afternoon Rest

Mom captured a few pics of JJ and I taking an afternoon siesta.  Of course, Little Miss Fastidious (VBP – vocab building project) had to complete her pedi before resting.  So many of you understood the need for the fuchsia cheetah sheet; yes, I’m secure in my manly man-ness to rock pink!

Sunday: Neve’s Birthday in Black and White

Gotta love my blogpals!  You so graciously sent in bowlfuls of birthday wishes for my pack pal.  Miss Beverly appreciated your comments as well.  Because of the color saturation choice, a few of you thought the pasta sauce Mr. Giovanni and Neve hovered over was a cake!!!  Mom goofed and shared that Neve celebrated turning 6, when in fact she turned lucky 7!

Mischief Monday:  Destruct-O-Pup

We promised a mighty juicy follow up to our pack pal, Buddy’s, MM post the week before and you agreed that we did not disappoint.  Many humans wrote humorous comments as well as understanding the underlying cause of Buddy’s wave of mischief:  he probably was scared and lonely.  Thank goodness Buddy’s human parents are so laid back; they took his misadventures in stride.

Tasty Tuesday:  Plums Two Ways

We look forward to this post, since we get to share tidbits in preparation!  As Mom’s faithful Kitchen K9s, we appreciate your positive feedback.  Lots of readers learned that you can roast plums.  Mom provided a step-by-step link for the recipe to show you the process she followed when she prepared the dish for her UMiami Diabetic Peer Support Group.

Wordless Wednesday: Neve’s Birthday Stretch

Mom firmly believes in celebrating birthdays from the weekend prior to the weekend after.  We featured Neve getting a “lift” so she could enjoy water out of our elevated bowls!

Thankful Thursday: Recovery & More Catching Up

FINALLY, a heaven sent visit from Mr. Ron and Mom’s computer issues have abated (VBP) for the most part… sure she lost her calendar with her blog radio guest schedules for the next 6 weeks, sure she can’t exactly use her prior emails, (she can peak but cannot open, copy, respond to, etc…) but… she can open Outlook and move forward.  Baby steps!

We graciously accepted two sweet awards from our pals Clowie and Misaki.  Mom only allowed us one cupcake each; we’re going to request another today and the next day and the next day until they disappear!  We agree with several readers that the best part of the award process is learning more about our blogpals.

Another great, birthday sweet week!

Sleepy Sundays

Hey It’s Jet Here.

I’m giving Mom the BIGGEST leeway today for posting super late.  If you’ve read the past few days posts, you’ll know about Mom’s busy week.  Mom’s work got cancelled today due to weather so, we all took an unexpected, yet welcomed three hour nap this morning.  Mom needed the extra snooze, let me tell you.

Yesterday, she walked us @ 6:30, got ready, packed the fresh and frozen food items in her car (with assistance from JJ – Little Miss Helper,) checked her recipes and packing list two more times to make sure… and off she went.  (Rachel, Mechel, and Mom’s Kitchen K9s helped pack her non-perishables and equipment the night before.)

She returned with less, albeit (vocabulary builder) good smelling grocery bags.  When I tried to investigate, Mom reminded me that my tummy did the infamous roller coaster ride for the last 24 hours (you get the picture, right?  Both ends, so to speak…) and I had to stick to this stuff called, gentle foods.

She unpacked the containers holding tidbits of Turkey Patties with Apple and Arugula as did the grill, the remains of the Bok Choy with Shitake Mushrooms in the wok, the containers with smidgens of Japonica Rice Salad, and the WORST… the Vitamix still coated with the Creamy Avocado Smoothie.  Hey, now that I think of it… where did the Roasted Salmon with Moroccan Spices go? Jetty, the group participants ate most of it and took the rest home in “doggie bags!”

Doggie bags? What’s that Mom? A doggie bag is a human term for a container holding leftovers.  You mean you gave out doggie bags and did not bring doggie bags home for your doggies?  Uh Mom? Do we need to have another discussion about “THAT’S NOT FAIR?” Sorry, Jetty, you know I always think of you and JJ, however, the groceries belonged to the Southeast Florida Cancer Control Collective  so, the leftovers in fairness, belonged to SFCCC.  Oh, I get it now, sorry for doubting you, Mom.  No worries, Jetty, glad your tummy is feeling better.

Another great, catch up on sleep, day.

Wordless Wednesday – Me and Jesse Hang Out in the Kitchen

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Rachel’s friends have visited us a lot during the last week.  They’ve done this thing called taking over Mom’s kitchen to cook lots of recipes out of that Hunger Games cookbook I’ve told you about.  JJ and I enjoy the frenzied pace in the kitchen and appreciate all dropped ingredients.

My buddy, Jesse, and I shared some private communication about manly man topics during our 10:30 PM break… and then it was back to the chocolate cupcakes and cookies.

Can’t wait for tonight’s “to do” list: sauteed chicken, pesto pasta and frosting!

Another great kitchen day (and night!)

Kitchen K9s at Sunrise

Hey, It’s Jet Here.

Oh, what a great week to be Mom’s Kitchen K9s.  First we had Prep Day and today Mom awoke poised and ready to cook and prep for herself.  By 5:30 a.m.:

  • Turkey burgers hit the Forman,
  • An array of veggies lined the counter,
  • Five bowls arced around her bamboo cutting board,
  • Her favorite knife and peeler rested on the board,
  • Three tiny Tupperware and 2 metal prep bowls arranged like soldiers flanked the spice area, and
  • The cabinet holding our garbage/recycling cans slid open a few inches ready to receive items before the garbage pickup at 9:00.

JJ continued her Sous Chef course, jumping up on the counter to learn how to: peel carrots and cucumbers, wash peppers, cherry tomatoes and lettuce (from Miss Mary Ann’s garden by the way), season ground turkey (today Mom combined salt free poultry and Mediterranean seasonings) and make salad dressing.  I have to check her Scooby Doo Academy schedule; seems like she’s working towards a home economics degree.

As mentioned Tuesday, JJ and I revel in our QC (quality control) responsibilities.  We confirmed that the carrots, celery, radishes, red peppers, (we refrain from lettuce, and can’t have scallions) and cucumbers passed muster.  Our daily 6:00 a.m. belly alarms quietly sounded, however, we gladly turned them off, enjoying tidbits until Mom had time to pause and serve us breakfast.

By 6:24 a.m. the eight turkey burgers looked like a pancake tower in a container, four of the five salads lined one shelf in the fridge, (one stayed out for Mom’s breakfast,) four of the five dressings stored on the door shelf ready for grabbing (one stayed out for Mom’s breakfast,) and the drip tray from the burgers, hey… where did it go?  Sometimes, I jump up and find a way to either lick it or tip it over onto the floor.  JJ showed promise last week by directly jumping up and pawing it over onto the floor.  Today, Mom made the tray disappear.  Little did we know…

She intended to let it cool down and use it as a surprise gravy on our kibble.  Gotta love Mom.  She scooped our kibble the normal way and then brought our bowls out to the kitchen where she would normally top JJ’s dish with gently warmed chicken stock.  Instead, she lovingly spooned the drip pan goodness onto BOTH our food bowls.  Scrumptious I say, Scrumptious.  Gotta make sure Mom does that again.

Another scrumptious (can’t say this enough) day.
