Wordless Thursday!

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Because of the holiday yesterday, Mom did not use any technology, so, she is behind again.  Here’s what we would have posted for our usual WW!

Meet Gatsby, and just like the book, he is certainly Great!  He’s the newest K9 family member at Mom’s office.

So now the office employees share their forever homes with:

  • Joel & Susan: Maddy, Gracie
  • Andy: Austin
  • Jennifer: Maddy, Sonoma (feline)
  • Mary: Jojo (duck), Pookie (bird)
  • Stephanie: Gatsby
  • Paola: Kuma
  • Mom: JJ, Puffy and yours truly!

Another great office/forever home day!

Follow Up Friday – K is for Kuma and other Tidbits

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Our friend, Miss Jodi, initiated this great idea to update readers on previous posts.  She created a lovely badge to go with her idea.

Black & White Sunday Hop:

The outpouring of lovies for my buddy, Barkley, after our first Black and White Sunday post, made Miss Wendy watery in her eyes.  We posted lots of her comments directly.  So many bipeds share their forever homes with adult K9s and felines and understand caring for a wizened (vocab building project VBP) senior  requires compassion, recalibrating (VBP) to the shifting meaning of “normal”, and acknowledging the grace exhibited (VBP) by the aging quadruped.  This week, my friend, Suka, had a post on the same topic this week, too.

Little Miss Delivery Girl

Great feedback on my sister’s new side business!  We may need to request artistic help from Miss Ann at Zoolatry when she feels super duper (GET BETTER SPEEDY QUICK Miss Ann!).  She would no doubt design the perfect delivery outfit for JJ!

Scrumptious Soldarity:

Boy did Mom receive an earful from my anipals on Tasty Tuesday!  That’s right… not enough sharing of the yumminess for ‘ol Jetty boy and JJ!  In fairness, I did let everyone know that since I’ve been exceedingly hesitant to leave the house due to booms and streaky lights, Mom wanted to watch the quantities of solids in my tummy.  The weather has held to overcast with short bursts of you know what the last two days, so, I’ve been more confident leaving the house in the evenings for my constitutionals.

Z is for Zebra:

Oh Mom goofed BIG TIME on Wednesday.  She referred to Miss Paola’s gorgeous Samoyed, Kuma as Zuma.  Mom and I spoke about this transcription error at length.  Turns out, Mom LOVES the letter Z!   Who knew?  From zipper and zigzag to Zachary (one of her preferred choices if Rachel had been a boy!) and zebra, the woman had “Z” on the brain!  Thank goodness, Miss Novroz and Mr. Colby pointed out that bear in Japanese is KUMA, so Mom could realize her error!

Lady Litchi:

Lady Litchfield Love wrote an extra special post about me this week.  We felt so honored, we reblogged it yesterday!  Of course we added the appropriate acceptance of her formal and graceful apology.  This lady has class aplenty.  She and Miss Susan do so much good for rescued animals around the world (especially in their native South Africa).  We again congratulate them for achieving blogroll status on Le Clown’s site via competition.

Phew, I need a snooze after this post!

Another great catch up day!

Mother’s Day – I’m Thinking Ahead Pt. 1

Hey It’s Jet Here.

I, Scooby Doo Academy trained, Jet the Gentleman, Boy of the House, etc… have thought long and hard… well if you count since early this morning as long and hard, about what to do for my human Mom on Sunday.  Here’s my thought process so far:

  • Idea: Give her a card from me, JJ, Fluffy and Puffy.
    • Issues:
      • We can’t hold a writing implement, need help to make a paw print, and cannot type on a keyboard.
      • No transportation to purchase one.
  • Idea: Let Mom sleep late on Sunday morning.
    • Issues:
      • I’ve got collie in me and we feel the need to herd at the crack of dawn.
      • It’s taken me 2+ years to train Mom to get up with me.
      • Our bladders and bellies need attending to.
  • Idea: As Mom’s Kitchen K9s, we can prepare a meal for her.
    • Issues:
      • We cannot help but QC (quality control) ourselves silly until the plate is empty.
      • Not allowed to use/touch anything hot.
      • No opposable thumbs.
      • Cannot retrieve our Tasty Tuesday Recipes (thanks to Kol and Sugar) from Mom’s Software.
  • Idea: Give her a spa day.
    • Issues:
      • I’m not sure I can get wet with my boo-boos.
      • JJ has … you know… girl issues right now.
      • Oh wait… Mom’s supposed to give US  a Spa Day.

Obviously, I need to call a 4-legged walkers only meeting in the house today to discuss more options…

Another great brainstorming day.

Fair and Square

Hey, It’s Jet Here.

Since Mom grew up as an only dog human, and my human sister, Rachel, is an only human, and for almost five years, my K9 sister, Koko, was an only K9, Mom had to learn about sharing time, love, and attention with multiple K9s when I joined the family.

Of course, she had a smidge of practice when she adopted my feline brothers, Puffy and Fluffy almost ten years ago, but… you know those felines are an independent sort.  I think Fluffy must have a K9 gene somewhere in his DNA because he talks to Mom incessantly (vocabulary builder) and hangs out with her/us a lot.

Anyway, Mom for the most part, from my perspective maintains a pretty fair balance with her time, love and attention now that JJ has joined the family.  Case in point:  you may have read my post about meeting Miss Eileen and the woman in the moving chair.  If not, catch up here.  Well, Miss Eileen loves K9s as much as Mom and had not yet met JJ.  On the day Mom wrote the post, she felt it was the perfect time to take JJ in the car to see Miss Eileen.

Mom called Miss Eileen and said she had a surprise for her and to please call her (Mom) when she arrived in the office.  (Miss Eileen moved to a new space right off the elevator, so, no place to stay out of sight!)  Miss Eileen said ok and followed Mom’s request.  Guess what?  JJ had the same reaction to the stairwell that I did!  After Mom did a Scooby Doo Academy strategic head poke out the stairwell door to make sure no humans were there, Miss Eileen was there and exclaimed, LORI, IS THIS JJ?  SHE’S BEAUTIFUL!  They hurried in the office and closed the door.  Miss Eileen did this thing called kvel (fawn over) and Mom took pictures.

From my perspective, Mom and JJ disappeared in the car together and left me HOME ALONE.  I thought about making mischief as payback a response, however, as the good K9 I am, I took a nap. They returned after what felt like an eternity and acted like nothing happened.  I knew better, because of the new smells on JJ.  HMPH.

Three days later, according to Mom’s calendar, (we K9s can’t relate to time passage), Mom put my harness on and scooched me out the door, into the car, put the windows down and said, “Jetty, today is your day for alone time with me.”  We visited the Farmers Market and our friends Miss Amanda and young Mr. Will!

Another great, fair and square day!

Ommmmm…….

Hey, It’s Jet Here.

After yesterday’s post, Mom and her friend, Gina, chatted and did this girl thing called “catching up” for a long time.  Jet, we’ve talked about this.  Oh, yeah, sorry Mom.  Since she was in the office, I, Nurse Jetty, took the opportunity to take care of her foot again.  Miss Gina didn’t know about our blog. (How is this possible?  Doesn’t everybody?)  When they hung up, Miss Gina sent the following email which Mom says describes us K9s to a “K”!  I do not understand all the words, however, Mom giggled at the end.

Inner Peace: This is so true

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and  boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and  blame without resentment,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without alcohol,

If  you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

… Then You Are Probably …

The Family Dog!

Another Great and Zen kind of day.
