Mischief Monday – Buddy’s (Mis)Adventure Pt. II

Hey It’s Jet Here.

I promised those of you who commented last Monday a sequel.  Here it is:

So, you recall Buddy’s Saturday night mischief which Mom found on Sunday morning.

Well, when she went to tuck Buddy in around 10:00 p.m. ish Sunday night, he met her at the metal gate.  Mom had a moment of panic, wondering whether she properly shut the lanai screen door.  Yup, she did.  How did she conclude this?  Because the Budmeister ripped a square of screening beside the door and let himself out.  Mom figured she would take Buddy for a late night tank emptying, put him in the house and deal with the screening Monday.

Miss Cindy already knew about the first mischief and suggested that Mom pull the blinds to one side of the kitchen.  A perfectly logical suggestion.  Mom augmented (VBP – vocab builder project) the suggestion and used the trash can to block Buddy’s access even more.

Monday morning… Mischief Day itself… Mom entered the lanai, then Buddy’s house and found… (oh, I must preface (VBP) this by saying Mom did NOT take her phone, hence no pictures):

  • The kitchen floor totally strewn (VBP) with plastic bag shredded spaghetti strands.  Overnight, Buddy, knocked over the trash can, got the metal wire out of the lid, pulled out the huge role of plastic bags at the bottom and SHREDDED! (imagine shreds like in the picture all over the floor!)
  • The two small mats that Miss Cindy must use to stand on when cooking… shredded.
  • Mom could not find a broom or dustpan, so she sat on the floor and cleaned by hand.
  • Several more blinds chewed.
  • For some reason, Mom went into the adjacent (VBP – we’re on a roll today!) living room and the Budman pulled down and chewed the cloth levelors as well!

DUDE!

Mom worried that Buddy might rip down more screening and escape, so, she brought him home to Casa Jet.  Luckily, Mom had the day off from the biscuit earning place, so, she could monitor destructo-pup!  We got along famously… except… the little dude NEVER STOPS MOVING.

I resisted the evening constitutional (on account of unforeseen weather), so, Mom walked Buddy and JJ with Miss Mary Ann, Dixie, Neve and Miss Beverly.  Of course, she shared his mischief.  Mom left a preparatory text for Miss Cindy.  When Miss Cindy came over to fetch the little angel, he was FINALLY fast asleep … and… he SNORES!

Miss Cindy, wowee wow wow, she’s super laid back.  She apologized to Mom, who apologized to her… and all seemed ok.

Another MAJOR mischief day, a la Buddy the Beagle.

Follow Up Friday – Buddy Edition

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Our friend, Miss Jodi, Heart Like a Dog, initiated this great idea to update readers on previous posts.  She created a lovely badge to go with her idea.  Beginning last week, she teamed up with Miss Linda, from 2 Brown Dawgs (Miss Linda who saved JJ’s life!) and turned her wonderful idea into a new blog hop!  Congrats!

Saturday: Buddy Sitting

JJ, Puffy, Mom and I continued Buddy, the Beagle, sitting.  We learned that Beagles have way different characteristics than retrievers.  We learned that Buddy could give the Energizer Bunny a run for the money as the little Dude never stopped moving.  Mom had trouble taking photos to show you how adorable he is.  Can you believe the guy actually waited for 10-15 minutes before eating his kibble?  Mom gave him lots of lovies during this time and eventually coaxed (VBP) him into eating.  JJ and I scarf our food in 1 minute!  Mom also mentioned how EASY Buddy walked, very little pulling… hint hint… What?

Sunday: Buddy Vision

During a 4 minute oxygen replenishment rest, Mom snapped a photo of the Budmeister to show you!

Mischief Monday: Buddy’s (Mis) Adventure

OMD, did the Bud-Man cause mischief!  Mom walked into his kitchen and found this!  If you think that was a good dose of mischief, wait until this Monday!  Looked like Buddy thought he was a beaver instead of a beagle!

Tasty Tuesday:  We Love Broccoli

We couldn’t wait to share two broccoli recipes with you; one with raw broccoli and the other roasted!  Because Mom offered the glorious crucifer two ways, JJ and I received double the tidbits!  Many readers shared: that their K9s had never tried the green goodness, they themselves either loved or disliked the tree looking veg or they couldn’t wait to make either or both recipes! Do let us know if you try them.

Wordless Wednesday: Evo the Great

We all agree – Evo is exceptionally gorgeous, striking and regal!  Thank you for sharing your insights on this giant breed.  Mr. Matt will so appreciate your compliments on his special girl.

Thankful Thursday: Backlogged

Blogpals, you did it again; you understood, empathized (VBP) and supported how backlogged we have gotten.  Mom and I are beginning our efforts to catch up on the generous awards we have received.  This week, we acknowledged receipt of The Addictive Blog Award from Zena at The Princess Tails.  We love sharing our story and equally love passing awards on to other wonderful blogs.

 Another great Buddy/broccoli/Evo/Addictive Blog week!

P.S. Mr. Ron was super sick this last week, so, no resolution to week 4 of Mom’s Outlook problems… (poor lady may end up bald from pulling hair out!) Also, if you want to read a great post about the Meandering Mollie party, you MUST, MUST, MUST click here!

Monday Mischief: Buddy’s Big (Mis)Adventure

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Boy did Mom get a surprise this morning when she went over to feed Buddy breakfast and take him for a walk.  You see, Saturday night, Buddy slept at his house with Mom following Miss Cindy’s instructions.

When Mom got to the kitchen, this is what she saw. Notice the bar at the top, you can see how many blinds went kaput!

She’s sparing us the floor scene, because she wanted to get the bits and pieces off the floor so Buddy wouldn’t chew anything else.  She decided to put the “evidence” in Miss Cindy’s bathroom, in case she and Mr. Pat need to see it for any reason.

JJ and I might have mentioned Mischief Monday the other night to the little Dude, but, gosh, we didn’t mean for him to go all Great White Buddy!

Another, uh oh Buddy day!

PS.  For those of you who asked who we’re working with from our Saturday post… let’s say one is my BFF and the other likes geography!  Can you guess?

Buddy-Sitting

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Yesterday, we left you with a teaser… did you guess Buddy the Beagle?  Well, you see, on Tuesday, Mom, Miss Mary Ann, JJ, Dixie and I met up with Miss Cindy and Buddy.  Miss Cindy asked the ladies if they knew of a good kennel, because their K9 sitter was away.  Mom chirped right in, “I K9 sit.”  Miss Cindy and Mom made a quick arrangement.  Mom visited Buddy’s house to make sure she knew all of Buddy’s preferences and stuff.

Before I continue, we have another teaser… we have been working on something with two anipals, can you guess who?  Ok, back to Buddy!

Remember, Mom’s familiar with retrievers, the Beagle heritage is quite new to her.  The following Beagle/Buddy behaviors have stood out so far:

  • Buddy loves to snuggle if Mom sits on the floor with him.
  • Unlike JJ and me, Buddy does NOT inhale his food.  He politely visits with Mom and then after about 10 minutes civilly eats his kibble.
  • Whereas JJ and I slurp water as if we spent the last three days traipsing (VBP – vocab builder project) across the Sahara, Buddy takes a few swigs and moves on.
  • Buddy only requires a lightweight leash, unlike our secure, heavy duty, yet fashionable varieties.
  • See lizard/gecko – will chase, catch and deliver!  Ewwwww!
  • NEVER stops moving… the dude needs to chillax a little! Mom cannot capture his face clearly to show you.
  • Mom says his tail moves like a metronome when they walk.
  • He makes a funny grunting noise… at first, Mom thought he was choking, then she thought he was wheezing, then she realized he was happy.
  • Of course, the beagle bay differs from our retriever barking!

Mom felt so sad looking at Buddy’s face on both night one and night two, so she brought him home for a sleepover!  We all blended well.  Buddy zipped through the house investigating everything.  Mom did not think he could jump up on the bed.  W-R-O-N-G!  He looked like he had springs attached to his paws like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh!  Finally, drained of energy, Mom, JJ, and Buddy fell asleep on her bed while I monitored the bedroom from a few different vantage (VBP) points.

Another great Buddy, day.

Mom FINALLY brought me to the Market

Hey, it’s Jet here.

Mom got this thing called laid off from the Farmers Market, which made her sad.  Since she had to hand in her last receipts, I decided  suggested I go with her to visit her vendor friends.  Also, I thought it only fair since JJ went for a special car ride on Thursday.  (more about that another time.)

Yesterday, our friend, Amanda, called us from the Cayman airport to say that she and her son, Will, were flying up for 2 days and would Mom like to meet them at the market. (Will really enjoys the market when he visits.) Mom kept  their visit a surprise.

Will took some of the pictures and walked me better than Mom, according to Mom.

Me, waiting politely while Mom spoke with Miss Karin.

Miss Karin telling Mom about her new gluten free items.  Mom taste tests for her.

Sniffing out the best tomatoes…

Learning about Italian olive oil… I LOVE olive oil…

If Mom REALLY loved me…

I met some new acquaintances:

Hey Mom, when can we go back, when? when? when?

Another great Farmers Market Day.

Détente?

Hey, It’s Jet Here.

Four days ago, something happened that shocked Mom and I so much, Mom had to call Mary Ann and I had to tell Dixie right away, to make sure we had not imagined the situation.  Here’s what transpired.

Most mornings, we pass that darn Max (please read this) and his human at some point on our route.  Monday morning did not disappoint as Max and I did the whole western showdown without the dueling pistols!  Jet, don’t exaggerate. Mom, I’ve always wanted to paint that picture.  Anyway, we had reached Neve’s house on the right side of the street and Max and his human were about 1/4 of the way down our lawn on the left side our our street.

Out of the blue, Max’s human says IN ENGLISH, “Where’s your other dog?”

Mom wore this stunned look on her face, hesitating a moment to respond, “She died.”

Max’s Human:  “I’m sorry to hear that.”

Mom: “That’s Max, right?”

Max’s Human:  “Yes, this is Max.”

Mom:  “Max looks like he lost a lot of weight, he looks really good.”

Max’s Human:  “He’s been on a diet.”

Mom:  “Thanks for asking about Koko. Have a good day”

Max’s Human:  “You too.”

Mom explained this thing called détente to me, shortly after we returned to the house.  Perhaps, Max’s Human ate some “holiday spirit” with her turkey last week.  Mary Ann made Mom laugh when she said Nostradamus isn’t until next year!  Whatever the reasons, I hope the “thawing” of our relationship continues.

Another great and healing day.
