Thankful Thursday: Chewies for Gotcha Day

Hey It’s Jet Here.

As you probably know by now, Mom presented a somewhat reasonable explanation for delaying my Gotcha Day celebration, which should have been this past Sunday.  (Summer Camp Reunion, 35 years in the making!)  More on my belated special day in upcoming posts.

While Mom will be late, a certain Mr. Brent started my Gotcha Day celebration EARLY!  For the FIRST TIME, Mom and I were contacted to review a company’s services.  Mr. Brent from Chewy.com  reached out and asked if we would like to try out their website.  Mom’s first response… “Jetty, you can finally earn your own biscuit $!”  Even tech challenged Mom navigated the site with ease, toggling between companies, checking her cart,  and searching items swiftly.  We give Chewy a 10 on the “user friendly” scale!

We think Chewy.com has Casa Jet on speed dial or something because when Mom and I made our decisions and placed our order mid-morning on Thursday, by Saturday our treats had arrived.  Seriously?  Faster than the pony express, carrier pigeons, or lamborginis we’re still wondering how my special box arrived so quickly.

We really needed some new chewy (pun intended!) toys so we focused on that part of the site.  We appreciated the myriad (VBP – vocab building project) of natural products (moose, deer and elk antlers) with the country of origin noted as well as the broad selection of BPA free chew toys (including some recycled products).  As the family guy I am, I split my gift certificate with JJ.  Here’s what we purchased.

Since Mom purchased one for JJ a few months ago, and she loves it too dearly to share, I asked Mom if I could have one too, only in manly man colors!

Finally, I get to enjoy…

Because I, ahem, love her, I selected two new toys for Little Miss Chewminator.

Rated as a tough toy by Zany, “you know who” ripped through it in 15 min, destuffifying the poor boomerang’s guts all over the couch.  Can’t recommend this for chewers 7+ on the chewing scale… a pricey 15 min!

JJ LOVES the 2nd toy; Mom and I thought the design rocked.  Mom rarely places treats inside (we live in the buggy tropics), however, JJ barely notices.

Mom thought I might enjoy giving the toy a test run… before losing possession forever to Little Miss Mine, Mine, Mine!

Since JJ absconded (VBP) with my deer antler 6 months ago, (actually 2 of them!) Mom thought she would try moose for me.

She gave it to me right before bed, since JJ keeps her antlers in Mom’s bed!

Good news/bad news.  I LOVED the antler so much… I devoured the treat in less than 24 hours… which made for a pricey treat!  Mom thinks she might try elk next time.  Usually, antlers last forever, so, we think maybe the moose antler might have been sliced instead of whole or something.

Another thanks to Chewy.com day!

Don’t Say Dental Hygiene Month

Hey, It’s Jet Here.

Last night, Mom had an “oh no!” moment when she correlated the date to the end of Dental Hygiene month.  Our dental treat container, (can you believe she uses washed out kitty litter tubs to hold the packages?) has reached the red, blinking, “Warning, Warning” levels.  Since many retailers discount dental treats during February, Mom MUST order today.  Jet?  Yes Mom.  This year, February includes one extra day for this math calculation adjustment thingie called Leap Year.  Thanks for explaining Mom, so really you have today and tomorrow to order our treats?  Exactly my boy.

I know I’ve mentioned these items before, however, since Scooby Doo Academy recommends reviewing for information retention, I will run down our preferred dental treats.

Twistix – Tail Up – good for your belly, your breath and fun to chew.

Tail down – JJ and I can polish these off in about 2 minutes.  Mom:  Sometimes like a piece of licorice, the chew gets stuck in their teeth and you see them confused that there’s a good taste in their mouth just out of reach!

Bone-a-MintTail Up – good for your belly, your breath, fun to chew.  When Koko was alive, Mom gave her this treat on the nights I received the next item.  Now, since the Chewminator and I have the same chomping pace, Mom gives us the same treats on the same nights.

Tail Down – Mom buys the small size (Mom: economic realities my boy) so we masticate (vocabulary builder) in 3 minutes.

HEXtra ChewsTail Up – Dr. Schaffer approved, keeps us busy for 10-15 minutes, tastes yummy, crunches.

Tail Down – Mom should give them to us all the time.

Mom: A little pricey, must intersperse with other treats.

BonesTail Up – The marrow is delectable, keeps us happy for hours, reusable (Mom spices it up with a little peanut butter, almond butter, or cream cheese.)

Tail Down – Mom opens the freezer to remove the bones only once a week.

Mom:  make sure your vet tells you what type of bone is safe for your particular K9. Bone chewing can be sloppy business, make sure your K9s either have napkins (towels), or chew in an appropriate location.

HoovesTail Up – keeps us busy for days, sustainable (Mom taught me about that.), nice and loud.

Tail Down – Mom doles these out periodically.

Mom: the hooves smell a little bit, make sure the hooves are from the USA as some hooves from China are tainted with you do not want to know what.

Antlers, hornsTail Up – keeps us busy forever, even the Chewminator!

Tail Down – kind of boring after a while, then upon rediscovery really exciting again.

Mom:  Make sure antlers and horns are from the USA, can be pricey, however, last forever.

Fellow K9s, what dental treats (preferably all natural) do you enjoy?

Humans – Don’t say Dental Hygiene month, call it dental treat month… just call me Jet, the Spin Dentist!

Another great pearly white day.

Small Biz Saturday? I’d like…

Hey, It’s Jet Here.

What’s with naming days; Turkey Day, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday? Jet, the Thanksgiving long weekend kicks off the holiday season for gift buying.  Small Business Saturday asks citizens to support small businesses and American Express will credit a cardholder’s account with $25.00. I need some shampoo.  Uh Mom? Yes Jet? Pet’s Best is small, right?  Yes Jet, I believe they have a few stores in our area, however, they are not a chain.  Really Mom? In that case, I have some requests…

Ok Mom… I like:

  • Their leashes and collars.
  • Their Solid Gold Hunden Flocken, I’m kinda getting tired of Koko’s salmon variety, where’s the lamb?
  • Their recycled water bottle toys and other fun stuff that you could let me try.
  • Their dental treats like hooves, antlers, and bones.
  • Their yummy training treats and cookies.

Jet, you already have most of those items and your list surpasses the $25.00 required spending.

But Mom, you said holiday shopping began yesterday, I’m ready for presents!  We’ll see, we’ll see.

Another great and hopeful day.
