Follow Up Friday – Gotcha Day Stretch Edition

Hey It’s Jet Here.

sad dogBefore I begin, if you read some of my comments from yesterday, you know I had an unexpected visit with Dr. Schaffer.  Little Miss Annual Exam had a scheduled meeting; however, after a late night version of “Ants in the Pants,” Mom put me in the car, too.  The “AITP” game looks like me zipping across the couch, in and out of my day bed, plopping on the tile, doing the tushy slide on the cool tiles, never finding a comfy position over and over.  When Mom saw me go for the underside of my fluffy tail, she cringed and knew “it” was back.

I’ll give you the quick and yucky version:

  • Pyoderma – can spread really fast, mine was about three inches and superficial.  Dr. Schaffer said Mom did a good thing bringing me in crying dogfast.
  • Got a shave which made me squeal so loud, Mom’s heart broke. (I accidentally scratched Mr. Vet Tech really bad… I apologized.)
  • Got a shot, got a spray which burned, got ointment; Cone of Shame went from car to office to my neck.
  • Whimpered for 45 minutes while Little Miss Annual Exam got her stuff done; Mom sat on floor trying to console me.
  • Sent home with two ice packs for under my tail… no can do!
  • Passed out on my our couch and in my daybed for the remainder of day.
  • Dr. Schaffer said the hardest part is the first 18 hours, so, should start improving today with medicine.

follow-up-fridayOur friend, Miss Jodi, Heart Like a Dog, initiated this great idea to update readers on previous posts.  She created a lovely badge to go with her idea and has successfully turned her wonderful idea into a robust blog hop!

Saturday – Little Miss Gotcha Day

You joined us in celebrating JJ’s first year with us, learning how she came to join our family.

Sunday – Grammy Unexpectedly Hops By

Everyone loved our unexpected visiting Bunny rabbit.  His coloring and method of movement fit right in with the Black and White Blog Hop.

Monday – Chopped Liver Mischief

Thanks for understanding why JJ and I felt left out of the fun when Ruby brought Grammy over to visit Mom and Rachel.  We got a little sniff at the end and Little Miss Curiosity even had a brief close encounter with the little hopper.  Yes, I know he’s adorable… I would have been a perfect gentleman.

Tuesday – JJ’s Favorite Fruit

In honor of her “Gotcha Day Stretch Celebration”, we featured apples two ways: in Wassail a pre-colonial holiday beverage and in an Artisan Bread Stuffing perfect for the holidays as well.  Lots of pals and their humans never heard of Wassail before and thought they might like to try it.  Send us some photos if you do!

Of course, we prefer our apples straight up as Mom’s Kitchen K9s.  Many of you like the same apple varieties as Casa Jet!

Wednesday – Little Miss…

JJ enjoyed thanking you for the many compliments and loving nicknames you sent in regarding her photos.  She told me I have great friends, to which I heartily agreed!  Here’s JJ with Miss Wendy again!

Thursday – The Next Big Thing

the-next-big-thingKirby warmed the cockles of our hearts (hey Mom, what kind of term is that?  Jetty, it’s an old expression) with his description of our blog when he bestowed The Next Big Thing Award on us.  We passed on the award to five bloggers who more recently joined the blogosphere and have made a strong impact on us.

Thank you all for checking up on Mom.  She still stuffy, figured out the problem involves her sinuses and should get to an MD sooner than later.

Another great Gotcha Day Stretch week, day.

  1. Jetty pal I feels fur you…That pie-o-durma stuff sounds nasty (how can something with pie be so nasty? should name it bath-o-durma) Yuck! But yur mom iz doin effurrything right fur you and you feel better soon I know…i sending you lots and lots of *healing snoogles* today

    • Hey Giz, Jetty here. Hi Miss JG.

Need those snoogles, dude. I plopped down in the middle of the street, sidewalk about 5 times. Mom panicked at the thought of having to carry “little” ‘ol Jetty boy home somehow.

I didn’t mind the first aid spray on the soft all natural baby wipe as she gently took the street dirt off my boo-boo… but when she sprayed the “gold standard” Gentsen spray that Dr. Schaffer used yesterday, I cried, jumped on the bed, ran through the hallway to the couch and tried to get comfy again. Mom felt so sad, she gave me oodles of kisses on my face and apologized about 100 times.

      Dude, I’m with you… no pie-o-derma… ouch-o-derma! meanie-o-derma

  2. Oh dear, that sounds terrible, Jet! I hope you could sleep all night and maybe felt better when you woke up. I had a hot spot on the underside of my tail by my back end that got shaved and they gave me the cone of shame. Mom hated it more than I did so I learned “no lick” really fast and did not have to wear the cone unless mom was not home. I wish you a speedy recovery!

  3. Hi Y’all!

Hey Jet…you have my sympathy with the anal problem. I had to go to sleep and be operated on for mine.

Just wanted to hustle by while the computer is co-operating and wish y’all a very Merry Christmas!

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

    • Hey Hawk, Jet here.

Dude, luckily, it’s a “tail” thingie and not that other thingie (they checked, YUK!)

      Uh oh, computer woes? Yuk.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas filled with wonderful Chessie activities, joy, family, friends, love, health, laughter and of course, tasty tidbits. 🙂

Sorry we’ve been out of touch a bit, Mom’s been under the weather for almost a month with sinus yuk and some other stuff is going on… we’re trying to dig our way out of the comment back up! 🙂

    • Hey Blueberry, Jet here. Hi Linus.

I hope you never have to… perhaps the desert keeps you dry and pyoderma free! Thanks for the feeling fit as a fiddle… Mom explained it to me and it sounded fun with all the “Fs” 🙂 (Like the flat part as I’m part flat coat!)

  4. Oh Jetty, I’m so sorry you are feeling under the weather. Thank goodness your mom is a fast thinker/reacter and took you immediately to see Dr. Schaffer. I hope all the stuff he gave you helps you mend very quickly. We are sending lots and lots of manly chest bumps your way.

Thanks for hanging in there for FUF too, I’m sure it wasn’t easy.

    • Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jetty here. Hi Miss Jodi.

Thanks for the empathy (VBP), I really appreciate it. Yeah, this thingie usually takes its time to go away. I think it may be because I do the tushy slide a few times each time I’m outside. Sampson, love the chest bumps, dude… think the ladies can send kisses???

Oh, we love FUF, plus it distracted me. 🙂

BTW, we got it, we got it! The Dogs of Blogville Calendar! It’s going to Mom’s biscuit earning place on Thursday! whoo hoo!

    • Hi Bunny, Jet here.

Thanks for your well wishes. I’m still pretty uncomfortable… 😦

I don’t celebrate Christmas, however, since Mom has the day off from work, I bet she will give me lots of lovies. 🙂

    • Hey BJ, Jet there.

Dude, she gave me a roasted potato tidbit dipped in plain yogurt yesterday afternoon… a moment of bliss I tell you!

I’m trying to be brave with the medicine. I’m doing ok with the first aid spray to clean my tail after our walks, the ointment medicine is ok, but the spray still stings. 😦

    • Hey Brian, Jet here.

Dude, thanks for the good wishes… I’m still doing the tushy slide and kerplopping at various intervals during our walks. Mom worries that she will have to carry an 80lb hunk of manly man home!

    • Hey Nylablue, Jet here. Hi Miss Sherri-Ellen.

Thanks so much for your prayers and good wishes, I know they will help me recover faster. 🙂

I love being a K9, however, I do find myself injured now and again. Sending Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to you, too, Nylablue!

  5. Oh, my sweet Jet. I hope you’ re right now. I don’t dare to imagine your pain and your mom’s too. I know that she loves you and she did’ t mean to cause pain to you but , you know, sometimes in order to get well you must feel a little pain. That’ s life and I know it’s not the good side of it, but you have your mom to love you and give you a warm hug.
    Many many kisses from Marsa…

    • Hey Marsa, Jet here.

Thanks you so much for taking the time to write such a caring comment. I’m still really uncomfortable and the spray still hurts. I know it will improve… I’m trying to be a brave boy, but… I’m still whimpering a bit.

I’m getting lots of lovies from Mom for sure… I even received a roasted potato tidbit with a dip of plain yogurt. 🙂

Thanks for your kisses, they will certainly make me feel better. 🙂

Sending Jetty kisses of gratitude right back.

  6. Oh Jetty,

I’m so sad to hear you’re unwell dude, I’m sending you big hugs to help you get better soon, you’ve got a wonderful Mom and I’m sure she’s giving you lots of cuddles but we’re sending you the extra ones too – and I have no words about the cone – I just hope time flies and it comes off soon!! 🙂

Sending big hugs to your Mom too, I hope she’s feel tip top again really soon,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

    • Hey Snoopy, Jet here. Hi Miss Annette.

Dude, man this pyoderma stuff … bites! Mom still hears me whimpering every now and the spray stuff still hurts. Oh yeah, lots of cuddles, brushing, face kisses, and… don’t tell too many… I got a roasted potato tidbit dipped in plain yogurt today! A bite of bliss I tell ya!

Believe it or not, aside from bumping in to Little Miss, Mom and the walls, the cone doesn’t really bother me, except when I want to bite/scratch my tail! Thanks for the extra hugs, man, I will graciously accept.

Mom rested almost completely today, which should help… thanks so much for the lovies, we appreciate them tons. 🙂

  7. Hey Jetty, Savvy here…how’s the bum buddy??? Hope it settled down and you could get some sleep…and Miss Lori too. I totally get it that those ice paks are like so not gonna be your thing, I couldn’t do that either. Hope you are feeling way better by today, cuz it is Sat when I am writing this cuz Mom is late again!!

    • Hey Savvy, Jetty here. Hi Miss Linda.

      Savvy, love the greeting, BOL!!!

Well, to tell you the truth, it’s rough out there. I do the tushy slide then kerplop on the grass or street during our walks which kind of worry Mom. I’m tolerating the cleaning with first aid spray after walking quite well… but the medicine spray still hurts. At times, I’m finding it challenging to create a comfy spot to park. Thanks for asking. xoxoxxo
