Winchester the Weathervane and other Tidbits

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Our friend, Miss Jodi, initiated this great idea to update readers on previous posts.  She created a lovely badge to go with her idea.

Last night, I almost left the garage to join the ladies for our evening constitutional… until the rumbling started.  I cowered (vocab building project VBP) and beelined right back into the house.  The ladies went on to meet Miss Mary Ann and Dixie at Max’s corner; however, even they abbreviated (VBP) their path because the multi-colored sky perplexed Miss Mary Ann, our resident meteorologist.  She and Mom counted the seconds between the lightning and the thunder and watched which way the storm was headed to determine the best course.  They eventually came upon good ‘ol Winchester, atop one of the houses looking like a weathervane!  Boy that guy has some feathers!

Tech Update:

Maybe all the storms knocked some electrical reasoning into our laundry room.  So far, shhhhhh, since Monday, our light switch/make all the equipment crazy issue, has subsided.  Mom gently flips the switch and watches the equipment like a hawk.  Oh those Mr. AT&T people… the only remaining naughty behavior is with the removal of the teensy wireless thingie, Mom’s new, SMART TV is dumb!  She’s dreading the inevitable 4th call in 8 weeks!  Mom’s Kitchen Counselor blog should be restored in about five more days; then the fun starts because she still must have a new company fix the former issues.  Baby steps…

Tasty Tuesday:

Miss Susan from Long Life Cats and Dogs commented that to her knowledge, she has never seen honeydew in S. Africa.  New headline: HONEYDEW – MIA IN S.A.!  We asked her whether she has access to other types of melons like: watermelon, cantaloupe, canary, Persian etc… as Mom’s faithful Kitchen K9, I await her reply.  Also, we congratulate LLCD for making Le Clown’s blogroll in a heated contest… read on to follow the drama.

Striking Chimera:

Because Mom will not permit me to FB or Tweet yet, we did not know how many of you already knew about the striking feline.  You did not seem to mind the repeat and wrote in similar observations of amazement, appreciation and wonderment at her coloring.  Several of you wanted verification that the picture was not “photshopped.”  From my Scooby Do Academy approved investigative skills, the answer is no.

Another great follow-up day.

  1. My Dearest Jetty, I do apologise for not having replied to you yet. What with trying to mediate some most confuddlesome legal issues and having, heaven forbid, a social life, which meant cooking for (not my strong suite) and entertaining (much better at this) numerous friends, I simply did not have time to get to all the comments. I have to admit that the ever present 4 letter word “work” also deemed it necessary to get involved and destroy my hopes of blogging effectively.

Regarding Melons (now if that doesn’t sound weird, I don’t know what does), we certainly have a multitude of options here in South Africa, from watermelon, papaya, spanspek (our name for canteloupe, pawpaw and many others, of which I fail, right now, to remember the names. I am sure we probably do get the honeydew, I simply haven’t heard of it myself and, as I say, it may just be called something else locally.

I think I’ll have to look into the Melon question a little bit more closely for you. Who knows, maybe we have something here that you have not heard of. I’ll let you know after some investigation.

    • Hey Litchi, Hey Boks, Jet here. Hi Miss Susan,

No worries Miss Susan, Mom and I are most patient. We know and hope everyone knows in return that we all lead busy lives and do our best to keep connected. Your mediation task definitely needed to take priority, as does family, cooking, guests, etc… 🙂

We love learning about produce in your neck of the globe… so, as you have time to share, we’re ready! Spanspek? Wow, wonder about the derivation of that name. 🙂 Pawpaw we know, because of the Caribbean…

Oh, my mouth is watering thinking about the delicious melons!! Excuse me a moment… MMMMMOOOOMMMM, do we have anymore honeydew tidbits?

Not right this minute Jetty, will get some over the weekend, my sweet boy. Thanks Mom.

  2. Thanks for joining FUF Jetty, I liked the update, it’s a nice way to end the week, no? Sorry about the bothersome (VBP) boomers, but glad that all the technical issues seem to be resolved. 🙂

    • Hey Scout, Hey Teddy, Hey Ash, Jet here.

Wowee, wow, wow! You made the fact that Mom is 7 minutes late feeding us breakfast well worth it!

First, may we congratulate you on your most deserving nominations. Shiloh is most certainly taking a break from monitoring the OTRB K9 park’s playtime to send lovies to you all through these awards.

Thank you for bestowing such kindness on us as well. We are woefully behind on our awards posts. Bear with us, we will catch up! We think Shiloh and our sweet golden sister, Koko, may she be frolicking OTRB, must know each other for sure by now along with our sweet Fluffy… and yes, it raises our spirits as well.

Thanks again… Sending Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to all of you! xoxoxoxo

  3. HI sweet Jetty – well we almost got away today without those pesky storms – just as Miss Cassie was taking one her after dinner walks she heard thunder and has been behind the couch ever since! Hopefully your neighborhood remained storm free and you had a nice relexaxing walk!

Love Winchester – I wonder why he lost some feathers? So cool that he just hangs around and you get to see him!

Mr. David is feeling much better today WHEW! I was up alot last night kinda worried because he had a fever but today he’s all better! must have been that same bug that your Mom had.

I’m off to work at Petsmart tomorrow – I;ll let you know which kinds of pups I get to see (and snuggle!)

sending so many goodnight hugs ans kisses to you, JJ, Mom, Rachel and Puffy xxoxoxoxo
p.s. how is JJ’s ear feeling?

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Nope, we had a few here, too, Miss Wendy. Mom tried to take me out in the afternoon 2x to “empty my tank” but, I was too scared.

That Winchester! Mom and Miss Mary Ann wondered about his feather loss as well. I will have to do some detecting!

Phew, glad to learn Mr. David is on the mend, no fun that tummy stuff. Miss Wendy? I like to eat grass and some of Mom’s lemongrass leaves when my tummy is upset. Perhaps you could recommend this to Mr. David.

Oh please do… Mom did not get home from work #2 last night until after 11. She volunteered to help Footprints Foundation’s benefit at the play RUINED. She can’t stop thinking about the devastation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo… DRC – an oxymoron of a name after seeing the play.

Mom continues to medicate JJ’s ears 2x/wk. JJ does not seem to be fussing with the former “less challenging” ear, so, we’ll take that as a good sign. 🙂 Thanks for asking. How’s Barkley?

Sending plumagefuls of Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to you, Mr. David, Jacob, Cassie, Rex and Barkley xoxoxoxox

    • Hey Roxy, Hey Torrey, Jet here. Hi Miss Mary.

Still a bit out of sorts with the weather. Got to chase Winchester last night… he had the nerve to strut on the GROUND in front of me! hmpf.
