Mischief Monday – Bath Salts, Take Her Away!

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Mom’s got these thingies called chemical sensitivities.  In the dinosaur TV days (term coined by my human sister, Rachel), there was a commercial  with a stressed out woman.  The tag line was – Calgon, take me away!

Mom spent much of Saturday having more tech issues:

Mom had to deal with the sudden POOF of her Kitchen Counselor blog. Gone, off the radar, like it never existed! Don’t get her started – one week of emails between 5 individuals, two companies and 3 hours on the phone yesterday!

Remember the WP issue? Well, we officially apologize, as yesterday confirmed that the MISCHIEF is on GOOGLE CHROME.  We tried to add the Saturday Pet Blogger hop link as usual to our post.  What happened?

  • No Jetty boy banner,
  • No access to comments,
  • No access to posts,
  • No access to notifications to comment for quite a while,
  • Funny gobbledy gook format when we tried all possible ways in,
  • We tried to go through our BFF Savannah’s Paw Tracks, another WP blog (which was working fine, btw) which helped a smidge.

Mom:

  • Shut down browser many times,
  • Restarted computer many times,
  • Shut down computer and restarted…
  • Went to the laundry room to address another ridiculous tech issue.*

*Ridiculous tech issue: Remember the second Mr. ATT? (Not Mr. Steve (installed unneeded new tv, Mr. Mario fixed phone and alarm) Well he moved all the equipment to the laundry room about a month ago to “fix the problems.”  Now, almost EVERY time Mom turns off the laundry room light (where our food is btw), loud beeps begin, orange and green lights on the two machines go nuts and the phones, wireless, tivo, and some computer features STOP.  Mom must go to the outlet and press the red BATMAN button – actually restart).  Come on… give Mom a break!

At this point, Mom began acting like a crazy mad scientist.  Until…

She remembered the suggestions of many of our kind, patient, tranquil petbloggers… try other browsers!

  • She tried IE, (so slow, not so great),
  • Firefox (wouldn’t load some of the stuff),
  • Safari (worked slowly, responded to a few comments, was NOT user friendly),
  • banging her head on furniture.

On top of this, she contracted (vocab builder project VBP) a stomach virus from a co-worker who came to work Friday quite ill.  They work in close quarters, so, Mom knew the die was cast.

Mom had to run a few errands before dinner, returned for our usual routines, made call #3 to GoDaddy (1.5 hours) and then tried visiting our blog again through Chrome. Sure enough, everything was back to normal.

Another, glad I’m not in charge of tech, day!

*As she’s preparing this post, it happened AGAIN… OMD!

  1. Oh Jetty and Miss Lori!!! Mom and I are so distressed for you!!! Can we help??? Do you wanna use our log in for WP to access your dashboard??? Anything we can do we will!!! So far, we are better using Chrome for all things blog related…BUT WP does work differently with Chrome than IE…Mom cannot load and manage a series of photos using Chrome…she loses all formatting. So when we use more than a couple of photos, Mom goes to my blog using IE…then goes through Chrome to save it and publish…Paw pats, Savannah

    • Hi Savvy, Jetty here. Hi Miss Linda.

You are so dear and kind, we’re back up and ok since Monday late. We will let you know if we need extra super special bff help. (We didn’t want to bother you, knowing you had special house guests!)

Can you believe the steps our humans must take to transcribe our posts and photos properly Savvy?

Sending we’re ok Jetty kisses and JJ hugs. xoxoxoxo

  2. Oh my goodnes, what a bunch of crazy stuff with techie troubles. You should get an electrical human to check the wiring in your house. You shouldn’t have to keep pushing the reset button, that means something is wrong and could lead to a fire.

    • Hey Brian, Jet here.

Dude, fire hazard??? OMD! We already had half the house flood last fall, Mom is about at the end of her … not sure what!

Electrical humans are hard to find in our area… at least ones with this thingie called a license!

  3. Hmmm…as you know when tech has issues my mom goes bonkers! All she can say is that WP does not like IE too much – she prefers to use it with firefox and has pretty good luck there. Good luck with those nasty issues!

    • Hey Emma, Jet here.

Thanks so much… Miss Jen from My Brown Newfies wrote in to say she had a similar experience, so now we know Mom hasn’t totally gone off the deep end! Mom had a HUGE firefox problem last fall, so, she’s skittish (vocab builder project VBP) about using it.

    • Hey Bella, Jet here.

Bella, you have no idea. We let Mom give us a spa morning yesterday… all the lavender and lemongrass scents from our natural shampoos helped Mom a little. Until… she tried to take a nap later in the morning (we were bathed at 7:30 a.m.) and her bed was uh… soaked from… uh… well… I might have taken a snooze for a while before she arrived.

  4. We are so sorry your mom has so many computer issues. That stinks:( Hope she gets it all figured out! Our mom isn’t much of a techie so she isn’t much help! She relies on our human bro to figure out all the technology stuff!

    • Hey Scout, Hey Ash, Hey Teddy, Jet here.

You are so right, stinks for sure. She got her Kitchen Counselor blog thingie partially unraveled yesterday… will begin to improve in about 10 days. 🙂

  5. I have been having some issues with Google Chrome too lately! Last weekend I couldn’t get to my blog at all, it was horrible! The same thing happened to me, one minute the blog was there and the next it couldn’t be found for hours!

    • Hey Leroy, Hey Sherman, Jet here. Hi Miss Jen.

Really? Really? You mean it’s not just Mom???? Happened again yesterday… OMD, poor woman is going to lose her mind! Hey Leroy, Hey Sherman, let’s go find this Mr./Ms. Chrome and let them no they are cramping our style! hmpf! I’ll herd ’em, you can drool on ’em… we’ll leave JJ home since she’s too darn happy and will ask if they want tea or coffee!

  6. Oh my goodness Jet,

How does your Mum have the patience to cope with all this Mischief? I hope she doesn’t bang her head too hard?! 🙂

Tech issues can be SO frustrating, I sure hope your Mum is able to get it sorted out – btw, we used to be with GoDaddy but now we’re with Hostgator and so far (nearly 2 years) so good 🙂

    Wags to all

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

    • Hey Snoopy, Jet here.

Mom tries to laugh through it. I heard her tell 2 friends on the phone if she didn’t laugh they would take her away to this place called the loony bin! That would certainly not work for us!

GoDaddy was not at fault for her Kitchen Counselor bloggie thingie… SOMEONE didn’t get a bill –> didn’t forward bill to Mom –> Mom didn’t know she had to pay for something –> POOF, ZAP! all gone. Mom shelled out extra biscuit $ just now and they said her KC blog will be back up in 10 days. Then… the real fun starts because that blog NEVER worked properly or fully… (Mom hired a professional for that too!) Seems like a LOT of mischief to me, Snoopy.

  7. Oh Jetty, it sounds like mom is having a devil of a time! I did try access her kitchen blog a while back but couldn’t. I do hope she is feeling better and your technical difficulties are behind her!

    • Hey FaRaDaY, Hey Maxwell, Hey Allie, Jet here.

Welcome home to Mommy! Hope she had a productive (VBP)excursion. Over the last three weeks, Mom’s gotten quite behind as well, we miss our furriends, too. 🙂

    • Hey Litchi, Hey Boks, Jet here. Hi Miss Susan.

Mom’s a trooper, I must say. She says that transcribing my posts makes her day sunnier! We took a “cat”nap with Mom today. (Puffy joined us as well.) Part of living in the tropics Miss Susan. 🙂

    • Hey Moggies, Jet here.

Over the last three weeks or so, Mom’s had extra work stuff, like editing a book proposal for a friend, (twice), catching up with the most supportive pet bloggers in the universe over the loss of our sweet Fluffy and a few other extra items. Mom juggles 3-4 jobs, so, she tries to keep up with my dictation and anipal visiting! Have patience with her… she tries really hard. 🙂
