Mischief Monday – Neve Does the Drop and Roll

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Well, it’s Sunday evening here at Casa Jet and WE HAVE ELECTRICITY! Tropical Storm Isaac is passing us with bands of downpours and wind gusts.  No complaints as breaks in the bands allowed Mom to take us out for afternoon potty.  We’re hoping to catch another break soon for our after dinner walk?

They expect this rain/wind rhythm to continue through tomorrow as we experience the “dirty side” of the storm.  We’ve had some tornado watches, cross your paws we get rid of those thingies really fast!  Our thoughts and prayers for safe passage go out to those next in Isaac’s path.

*Pawnote: Mom’s transcription was interrupted by a break in the weather.  We walked a FULL evening constitutional.  Mom told me how proud she was that I left the house.  The breeze felt great in my fur!  JJ and I “spoke” to our new golden neighbors, Winston and Dylan who chatted from the fence.

On the lighter side… last Thursday, Miss Beverly sent mom a text message thingie with the following picture:

It seems Neve (usually snowy white) performed her best drop and roll in thebackyard.  The only issue – Miss Beverly is having pool work done and there is a big mound of stuff.  Apparently, Neve rolled in a pile of stuff containing a DEAD POSSUM (Miss Beverly had a human manly man bury it in the yard, since, I, manly man Jetty could not be reached.)

Coincidentally, my Golden Rescue buddy, Jack, had a similar adventure the same evening. Jack had Miss Rebecca transcribe, “BTW I haven’t been on to comment, because I couldn’t resist the drop and roll the other night and lost my computer privileges.”  Dixie performs a carefully crafted drop and roll many evenings during our evening constitutionals.  Miss Mary Ann gives her the naughty speech, something about Dixie-middle name-last name, you are SO GOING TO GET A BATH!  Miss Beverly gave Neve a bath al fresco (on the patio) and Jack got a mini-spa with waterless bath solution.

Does this count for a MM hat trick? Or one giant drop and roll Mischief achievement?

Another great Drop and Roll day!

  1. YEA!!! You made it!!! We watched storm tracking all day to make sure you guys were oK and Rumpy Dog too! So sorry for the USA Gulf coast tho’…and those are some pretty good mischief stories…I, on the other paw, spent most of the day in bed…I upchucked my AM meal…had some kibble and then later ’bout 1PM had nap with Mom… I am still in bed…think I had a bad tummy…paw pats, Savvy

    • Hey Savvy, Big Guy here. Hi Miss Linda.

Thanks for watching out for us, you guys (Mom’s NJ term of endearment)are the best! We watched for Rumpy, too. Yes, the Gulf… they cannot catch a break. 😦

Oh no, we hope your tummy improved IMMEDIATELY, no doubt the nap with Mom made everything better. 🙂 I went to “therapy” with Mom yesterday, she snuck me into the building and everything!

  2. Drop and roll? now that’s got to be a dog thing! We cats wouldn’t want to roll in a dead possum, even if we knew what that was. It’s bad enough falling into the storm drain every now and again. Did we say fall? We meant PUSHED!

    • Hey Au, Hey Target, Hey Guido, Jet here.

Yeah, Puffy mentioned that’s way below his acceptable behavior too. He always looks down on us K9s…

Mom giggled a little about the storm drain, not at you, just at your writing… sounds like a VERY important story which needs to be told… 🙂

  3. Oh Dog! I’m glad gou’re OK. I am relieved Isaac decided to visit elsewhere, but we could yet suffer from the dirty side. I think I deserve to roll in dead stuff!

    • Hey Rumpy, Jet here.

We’re doing well, tarp on roof shredded, but, other than that, just the usual debris. Hope you are ok, too. Hope our list helped as well. 🙂

Dude, you roll in whatever makes you feel good!

  4. Hi sweet Jetty – so glad you are all ok and were able to get out to do your business! hoping tomorrow is ok as well – we are in the same pattern – huge wind, torrential rain, then quiet. sending wishes for a peaceful night sleep hugs to you, JJ, Mom,. Rachel and Puffy xoxoxo

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Likewise Miss Wendy… Mom’s not sure if she has work today! I’m still a bit skittish to go out this morning. Mom hopes I will feel ok soon, as it’s 90 min. post breakfast!

We saw some yucky bands on the report early this a.m. headed through your area, hope you guys were ok.

Sending back quiet weather wishes, Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to you, Mr. David, Jacob, Cassie, Rex and Barkley xoxoxoxo

    • Hey Benny, Hey Lily, Jet here.

WE’re doing quite well, dealing with the dirty side now… rain/wind bands still visiting. Mom had to wait 90 minutes to get us out for our morning constitutional. She was able to go to the workplace and earn some much needed biscuit $… Thanks for your kind thoughts.

  5. You might be surprised, but Blueberry, yes, Blueberry, is the chief drop and roller here! She once dropped and rolled and ruined a brand new collar that Mom had just gotten for her by doing this. It’s still a sensitive subject five years later! BOL!

    Bunny

    • Hey Bunny, Jet here.

Totally surprised… maybe that’s how Blueberry was named… maybe because of a drop and roll causing a color change… BOL!

Uh oh… bet Blueberry got the naughty speech when that happened.

Bunny, I knew you would never do a drop and roll… you are way to proper! 🙂

    • Hey Sugar, Jet here.

Thanks Sugar, we are too… still having rain/wind bands. I’m too scared to go out for morning constitutional, even though Mom thinks JJ and I REALLY need to go… (almost 90 minutes after breakfast.)

Happy MM to you, too. 🙂

  6. Lucky I am the one who reads this post, otherwise Kroten and Papoe want to do that drop and roll too …. but we all know turtle can’t roll 😉

Glad the storm has passed. We dont have rain for nearly 2months now.

    • Hey Kroten, Hey Papoe, Jet here. Hi Miss Novroz.

      BOL… turtle can’t roll!

Yes, still getting rain/wind bands, but no complaints, soooo lucky.

Wow, no rain for 2 months… do you get thirsty Miss Novroz?

      • Hi Jet,
yup…small turtles still can roll but bigger ones have difficulty….lucky you doggy don’t have shell like turtles 😉

No…not thirsty yet, but it’s just too dry…too much dust 😦

      • Hey Kroten, Hey Papoe, Jet here. Hi Miss Novroz.

Really, can small turtles do summersalts like gymnasts??? BOL! Yes, we have fur that Mom says gets very tangly! 🙂

    • Hey Emma, Jet here.

Wow, Germany? Did you get to try shnitzels, brats and other yummy German cuisine???

The Emergency Management folks here give humans, especially the surfers, kite boarders, sailboarders etc… the naughty speech if they try to enter the ocean… which they always do.

Thanks Emma, we’re doing well, still some icky rain/wind bands… Grandpa (human) does not have electricity, so may visit today. 🙂

  7. Hi there Jet and family. We sure are glad to read that maybe the hurricane didn’t get you too badly. Our doggies don’t know how to drop and roll but it sure sounds like fun. Have a great week.

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Marg.

Oh, well if they need lessons, we have lots of volunteers!

Thank you, still downpours and wind in bands, but Mom was able to go to the work location to earn some biscuit $ for us. 🙂

  8. Yikes! That’s a lot of mischief! I’m glad you’re not getting the full impact of the storm, those things are nasty. We got the full brunt of hurricane Irene here in the northeast, and because no homes here are hurricane-ready (we never usually get full force hurricanes), it was awful. I’d have felt better if our windows had those hurricane shutters! Glad you’re getting through it okay; I’m hoping the impact is less than expected in the gulf area.

    • Hey Daisy, Jet here.

We are too, we’ve been extremely fortunate. We found out this morning that my human Grandpa does not have electricity. We invited him over to Casa Jet for some a/c!

Mom’s from NJ originally, so she fully understands what you mean about Irene. Yes, the shutters make us feel much safer.

Yes, we’re sending our thoughts and wishes for the best possible outcome in the gulf area. The only good thing this morning is they seem to have downgraded from Cat 2 to Cat 1.

    • Hey Roxy, Hey Torrey, Jet here. Hi Miss Mary.

No worries, you live so far away and have so much creating art to do! Send your good thoughts to those in the gulf, that’s where blustery (vocab building Project – VBP) Mr. Hurricane Isaac is going next. 😦

  9. Hey Jet,

Your buddies sure are skilled in the art of dropping and rolling!! Great Mischief!! I’m not big on that one, but it’s only cos I’m so fussy about my coat looking nice for the Girlies, my buddy Cosmo likes to do that kinda stuff though – he says the Girlies can take him as he is?

    Have fun and stay safe,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

    • Hey Snoopy, Jet here.

Glad you appreciated their talents. I drop and roll right after a spa day. I like to roll in the grass with the sun on my belly. Mom always looks at me, says something like, “Really, Jetty? I just washed you!” and then caves because she cannot resist a belly rub.

Oh you are the dashing manly man… guess Cosmo is more rough and tumble… you know the girlies always had a crush on the scruffy Marlboro man!

Thanks Snoop, we’re doing ok, so grateful… still having bands pass through…

  10. Hi Y’all!

Just hoppin’ by to say “hi”.

Sometimes even I have to practice the drop and roll when not instructed to do it. It’s funny to watch the Human become wild and starting barking commands and running toward me!!!

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Bernadette.

Oh, Miss Bernadette, can you say HEAVENLY??? check out our Wednesday post to learn what happened next!

Your kind care and concern mean the world to us, truly.

  11. I miss hurricanes. We hunkered down during Charlie, Francine and Jeanne a few years back when we lived in Florida. Nothing like a hurricane to bring a family together. 😉

    • Hey Mollie, Hey Alfie, Jet here. Hi Miss Stella.

We’re super duper, thank goodness, just a shredded tarp on our leaky roof. 😦

We’re crossing paws and fingers for those in the GULF.

    • Hey Brown Dawgs, Jet here. Hi Miss Linda.

Sorry for the long time no visiting or commenting…

Thanks for your thoughts, we’re incredibly grateful and hope that the Gulf region will rebound quickly. They have suffered so over the last 7 years. 😦

    • Hey Sherman, Hey Leroy, Jet here. Hi Miss Jen.

      I know, ewww..

thank you, we did really well, with the exception of a shredded tarp on the roof. 😦

Thinking of those in the path, wishing them safe passage. 🙂

  12. hey Jett,

I had no idea you were in the hurricane’s path. I am furry happy to read that you are all safe and made it through. Scary! But a bit fun? That is how I feel during tornado season, they are scary but some fun involved with the wild, whipping winds and the dark clouds, and the wonderful cool breezes! Anywoofs, glad you and yours are safe and sound and enjoying the calmer weather. Our prayers are with those in the hurricane’s continued path.

The drop and roll sounds like great Monday Mischief! Not sure about a dead possum, though. That might be a bit too stinky! BOL!

    Suka

    • Hey Suka, Jet here. Hi Miss K.

We are sending thoughts of safe passage to those in the Hurricane’s path, too. Suka, other than the wind in my fur, I prefer tranquil weather.

Yes, I like the drop and roll in grass with the sun shining, especially after Mom gives JJ and I a spa morning!

    • Hey Linus, Hey Stanton, Jet here. Hi Mr. Colby.

Yuck is right (from Mom, not me necessarily)… Thanks Mr. Colby, we’re ok, thank goodness. We were really fortunate with teensy flooding/wind issues. Our roof tarp shredded, otherwise no problems. Mom will slide the shutters open after work today!

    • Hey Moggies, Jet here.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, we are too… Mom slid the shutters open last night, so we can see the ducks again! (amongst other critters and plants…)

Will do, we saw Neve last night… we only email with Jack, he lives about an hour + away… 😦
