Hey It’s Jet Here.
Thanks to Sugar and Kol for initiating Tasty Tuesdays, today is our fourteenth participating post!
We want to apologize for not responding to comments or visiting blogs yesterday. We may have mentioned a few bunch of times that Mom’s computer, well, may have existed when the dinosaurs roamed the earth! We appreciate the length of its usefulness, however, with that DNS virus thingie yesterday, Mom worried…
Anyway, in light of the heat wave blanketing our country, Mom thought a frozen treat could lift the spirits of both bipeds and quadrupeds. Watermelon ranks high on my list of favorite fruits. Mom provided JJ and I with several tasty tidbits on Sunday evening when she hacked her way through a great big, whole watermelon! You know what she did yesterday? She SHARED that red fruit with Miss Mary Ann and Auntie Angela. hmpf.
When Mom made the recipe below, she made it in her Cuisinart Ice Cream maker. If you do not have one, you can either make the popsicles below or in a granita format.
That looks really good Jet! You are so lucky to have a mom that makes really good stuff to eat! Our mom isn’t quite as talented when it comes to the kitchen! We are going to save this recipe for her. Who knows…maybe she will try it 🙂 We are keeping our paws crossed!
Hey it’s Jet here.
So… here’s a tip… place recipe on fridge door (ask other humans for help if necessary)… under remote control works too! (I say this from experience with my human sister, Rachel)… If she goes the popsicle way, she can use paper cups! I’m crossing paws right with ya.
BTW, please ask Mom how she feels about Mr. Ray Allen joining our Heaters!!! 🙂
I have to plug the Hamilton Beach Half Pint ice cream maker, $25 at Target. It really works well for small quantities, makes 4 small servings in 15 minutes!! You can repeat for the next round. I made watermelon sorbet with it.
Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Andrea.
Whoo hoo! Another ice cream maker makes magic! Oh, Miss Andrea, we think you should do a cooking demo at http://www.liveplate.com and show everyone how pawesome the machine works!!! 🙂
Hmmm – I love watermelon.
Hey Litchi, Jet here. Hi Miss Susan.
We do too… now you have another item for the recipe box. Can you find seedless varieties in S. Africa? How about yellow flesh?
OMG! This just sounds so yummy and refreshing!
Hey Fred, Hey Gloria, Jet here. Hi Miss Janet.
I confess, it is! Plus, Mom says you can swap the sugar for stevia, coconut sugar, maple sugar or ???? 🙂
Hi sweet Jetty – I;m so sorry JJ barked all night and kept poor Mom up – we just had a mini storm and so far so good on the thundershirt – but we it still hasn’t been tested on one of the super huge middle of the night storms.
Jetty – I have an extra size Xl thundershirt unopened because Overstock, com made a booboo with my sisters order and I got 2! Please ask Mom if I can mail it to her to try on JJ -maybe it would help and it would make me so so happy to help your wonderful Mom and make our beloved JJ feel better.
What a wonderful watermelon recipe! Cassie and Rex love them some watermelon – they come running they hear the knife come out!
I think the lady at Petsmart said her Golden from GRSF was named Harley before she adopted her – boy was she cuddly and snuggly!
sending fruity goodnight hugs and kisses to you, JJ, Mom, Rachel and Pluffy xoxoxox
Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.
Oh boy, oh boy… the TShirt is helping Cassie a bit? Yippee yahoo! Tell ya what… you are beyond kind, generous and thoughtful. If it’s ok with you… Mom thinks the one she bought for me might fit JJ better. She’s going to fish it out from … uh… Miss Wendy? Mom has a LOT of stuff… she made need to fish for a few days. Let’s see what size that one is and then… maybe… I can try the bigger one. If it does not help, we promise to send it right back.
I think Cassie and I are truly a match made in heaven. We truly share so many likes/dislikes… I bet if we went on Match.com we would be a perfect match! Now, I learn she likes watermelon, too? ahhhhhh…. (picture me swooning.) Glad you liked today’s recipe… you know, mint helps digestion… it’s an ingredient in our twistix.
Mom asked me to share she vaguely remembers Harley… is she a blondie or darker?
Sending fruity Jetty kisses and JJ hugs right back to you, Mr. David, Jacob, Cassie, Rex and Barkley xoxoxoxoxox
I like the sound of that combination of flavours.
Hey Clowie, Jet here.
Yippee… hope you get to try it out sometime…
That sounds yummy!
Hey brown dawgs, Jet here. Hi Miss Linda.
Oh, I can only speak to the watermelon tidbits this time, and yes they were!
Hi sweet Jetty – well last night we had a big storm and the t-shirt didn;t help Miss Cassie upstairs – she insists of scratching and paddling all the doors but if we go downstairs with her she did settle right down! so thats better than nothing!
Harley was a big snuggly lighter colored girl!
have a great day! xoxoxo
Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.
So sorry to read about Cassie. In about an hour, Mom will post for today and you’ll see how our evening went! Thank goodness last night was easier. Let’s hope for another so you guys can catch up on sleep.
Ahhh… Mom cannot recall Harley right now, however, as mentioned, she’s a bit overtired!
Sending Jetty kisses and JJ hugs your way. xoxoxoxo
Sounds so yummy, did she share any with you and JJ?
Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jet here. Hi Miss Jodi.
She gave us watermelon tidbits… she did not actually make the sorbet this time!
