Tapping Into My Inner Retriever

Hey It’s Jet Here.

I’m not sure if JJ has influenced me, however, lately, I’ve mostly set aside my border collie roots on my morning and evening constitutionals. What do you mean, you ask?

• Instead of sniffing the air, I focus more on the ground.
• I notice the birds flying above more; my head swiftly turns to the sky and my ears perk up.
• Ducks in the canal? I’m ready to make like my friends Hawk, Freighter, Storm and Thunder and fetch those aquatic birds!
• Mom takes JJ and I twice a day in the back yard after our constitutionals to sniff out mangoes and I succeed each time!
• I would fetch and tug on toys if Little Miss “I’m going first” didn’t hog them every time!
• I would like to swim more, however, Mom’s waiting a teensy bit more for my skin to heal and JJ’s ear issue to resolve.

Oh, in the house, I delve into my retriever roots and explore the velcro-K9 retriever reputation, especially when it comes to my family and my pals, like Ruby.

Now, we must provide full disclosure: in truth, we do not know what heritage I possess. The guess after an A-HAH moment during my ninth month with Mom is a mix of flat coat retriever/border collie!

Another great, tapping into your roots, day.

  1. hey Jet buddy!! No matter what roots, you are totally tops and my champion always!! And hey bud, is that a little gray I notice on that cute muzzle of your??? what’s up with that! Have Mom get some color on that…a big guy has to look good!!! paw pats, Savvy

    • Hey Savvy, Jet here. Hi Miss Linda.

Thanks Savvy, I’m honored and privileged to wear your hanky!

Uh, Savvy? Mom says a gentleman with salt and pepper fur such as myself only looks more distinguished. Miss Mary Ann refers to the gray on my legs as racing stripes which ups my “cool factor!”

Savvy, you cannot run from the aging process, you have to spin it to your advantage!!! Paw pats to you…

  2. Hi sweet Jetty – love! love! love the pic of adorable Ruby hugging you up (in fact I;m a little jealous – I;d love to hug you up too!) sounds like JJ is rubbing off on you with all her retreiver traits but no matter what heritage you possess – you are just the BEST in my book and absolutely perfect!

Cassie is better today, thank you for your support! Her morning business was firm and I;ll keep watching her and giving her gentle foods for her tummy as well as the pumpkin supplement.

She went swimming in our pool this morning, such a joy to watch her have fun and be carefree – she’s so proud of herself! Then she had spa day – complete with warm bath, comb out, nail trim, fur trim and blow dry. Then she has been resting all day. I do hear some boomers coming UH OH! I hope we (and you) don’t get them!

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Oh gosh, I want to be at YOUR house today! Mom’s busy writing her newsletter and I’m keeping her company… except during the baking process going on with Rachel and Ruby!

Phew, so glad to hear Cassie’s improving and that she had a pampered pooch day. Do Rex and Barkley swim, too?

I think we had the same booms, Miss Wendy. Mom pretended they didn’t occur, and Rachel and Ruby banged some pots and pans and stuff (by accident Mom hopes), so, right now, I’m ok. The neighborhood humans started setting off fire crackers last night, so… you know what that means for the next week… JETTY panic mode… 😦

I would love nothing more than lovies from you Miss Wendy, you and Mom MUST coordinate schedules pronto!

Thanks for your total acceptance of whatever heritage I possess, wish all humans got that. 🙂

  3. Jet,

We love that photo of you and your human! It sounds like you are a very effective retriever. Border Collie/Retriever sounds like a great combo.

    Bella and DiDi

  4. Nothing wrong with acting like a retriever every now and then Jet! If you get to go swimming you’ll have to tell us all about it, it’s so much fun.

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Emily.

For sure! Since you haven’t known me that long, I’ve exhibited a more dominant herding side so far. So, I’m kind of excited to explore my retriever roots! It’s all instinctive (vocab builder)… pawesome!

      Any swimming tips?

      • Take a running leap and jump! And, of course make sure you run right up to your person and shake water all over them… they might not admit it but they like it. 😉

      • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Emily.

How did you know that’s what I do! Oh and due to the length of my fur strands, boy does that water travel! BOL…

  5. Hi sweet Jetty – no Rex and Barkley don;t swim, Barkley hates h20 poor guy fell right into the deep end of our pool the first day we moved in and I don’t think Poms are a swimming breed so Miss Cassie has to pool all to herself!
Thankfully the storm was not too bad – glad you were ok. What treats did Rachel and Ruby whip up?

Sending peaceful goodnight hugs and kisses to you, JJ, Mom, Rachel and Pluffy xoxoxxo

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Rachel and Ruby made a yummy (from discussions, no taste for us) chocolate cake from scratch while Mom wrote her Kitchen Counselor newsletter.

Poor Barkley, Mom thinks the same type of thing happened to Koko before Mom adopted her. Yeah for Cassie, she deserves a special place since she struggles sometimes in other areas. (like me.) Same here on the storm… however, Miss Wendy? They set off about 10 rounds of firecrackers with really loud booms which scared the fur off JJ and I. JJ tried barking them away… (no luck.) Mom knows a tough week looms…

Sending it’s better in the daytime Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to you, Mr. David, Jacob, Cassie, Rex and Barkley xoxoxoxox
