Raindrop Gambling

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Remember yesterday I discussed our weather patterns here in the tropics?  Well, today we had our first prolonged day of rain bands.  Thank goodness, no booms or streaky lights.  The plants slurped up the water really fast, however, JJ and I did get to splash in a few puddles.

Because of my sensitive nature, Mom thought “please don’t rain” thoughts before feeding us dinner, so that we could carry out our evening constitutional on time and feel comfortable all night.  Amazingly, the heavy rain slowly subsided as the clock neared 7:00 and we completed our exit left square route with nary a drop of rain from the sky.  (We did receive droplets from the trees, creating a sheen on our heads!)

Mom told us that up North, when it rains, it goes on and on with gray skies.  When she moved down here, she could not believe that the rain could pound one side of the street while the sun shone on the other.

Hence the gambling reference.  During rainy season, Mom takes bets on:

  • Whether we can make it before the rain starts,
  • Whether we have to go through the whole rain gear preparedness exercise,
  • Whether we can make it between rain bands
  • Whether I will go out at all, for a bit, or a full walk (due to sensitivity mentioned above.),
  • Whether she needs boots,
  • Whether we will end up with muddy paws, etc…

Do you think there’s a Las Vegas line on Raindrop Gambling?  Quite often, Mom bets incorrectly, so, maybe we should keep the whole Vegas thing between us, ok?

Another great raindrop kind of day.

Thanks to Confessions of the PlumeLife With Dogs and Two Cavaliers for hosting the Saturday Pet Blog Hop.

    • Hi Curlz and Swirlz felines, Jet here. Hi Miss Teri.

Puffy and Fluffy (our felines) say hi!

Yes, Mom says blog hopping can be a full time J-O-B… and she already has 3 of those! BOL!(bark out loud)

Thanks for visiting us and we’ll bet Miss Teri does her best! 🙂

    • Hey Fred, Hey Gloria, Jet here. Hi Miss Janet.

Well, Miss Janet, the booms and streaky lights pounded through overnight and scared JJ and I to our shivering points. We were able to get out this morning already for our walk. Mom is debating as we write this whether to wash us as planned this morning or not!

Mom’s going to cut her beautiful sorrel leaves, glistening from the rain, to make soup today. 🙂

  1. Hi sweet Jetty – here we go with the rainy season! Cassie has been up since 6ish scratching the floor, pacing and being so scared! She is so smart – during our middle of the night constitution she was very hesitant on the lash – she must have smelled the rain coming – I should always bet on Cassie to predict the rainy weather!

    Have a restful day! xoxoxo

  2. Hey there, Jet!! I’m so glad you stopped by my bloggie — It’s great to meet you!!

I LOVE water, especially rain. My mommy and daddy have trouble getting me in the house when it does, heh. But I also love getting towel-dried. 😉

Thanks so much for your kind words about my mommy’s art — I told her and she so appreciates it!! 🙂 🙂

    Woofs & huggies, ❤

    Your new friend,

    Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)

    • Hey Bailey, Jet here.

Likewise, a pleasure to FINALLY meet you (after, ahem, Mom’s technical oversight!)

Yup, JJ and I love to puddle jump, lucky Mom has rain boots!

Oh, Bailey, tell your mommy most welcome and most deserved. We look forward to keeping up with you and your mommy’s adventures. 🙂

I’m not a big towel dry fan, I prefer doing what Mom calls, “give a shake!” JJ prefers rolling on the tile in a rather undignified manner if I do say so myself! She’s ok with towel drying though.

Jetty kisses and JJ hugs back, to you, my new friend! 🙂

  3. Hi Jet,,, I’ll bet you 5 doggie treats that you can bet on the weather in Vegas,,,LOL !
Glad for you that you didn’t have any of that scary rain stuff. I live in the Midwest and last night we had about 3 straight hours (no kidding here) of lightning and loud rolling thunder. I’m telling you,,,that knocked the joker right out of me for a while. Even worse, we’re getting more of the same just about all day today. Joke Daddy doesn’y skip our walk very often,,,,but I think that today may be one of those days, so play a little bit for me when you get out this weekend.

    • Hey Joke Puppy, Jet here. Please stay safe, we watched all of those scary tornado reports last night and this morning. JJ and I go into shiver/shake mode at the sound of booms and the sight of streaky lights, so we cannot imagine how scary your weather has been.

We’ll keep you in our thoughts and wish you lots of lovies and belly rubs while you wait for clear skies.

  4. Hi Y’all,

We’ve been in drought for several years now. The last front to go through, all the way to Florida, was a dry one.

Just hopped over to catch up with your happenings and say hello! Have fun this weekend!

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

    • Hey Hawk, Jet here.

So sorry to learn of your drought, we’ve received a few similar comments today. We need the rain, too, except Mom said she would prefer if it stayed out of our kitchen. 😦

      Take good care Hawk.

  5. We feel ya, Jet– and definitely your mom too! This rain has been driving me crazy with the four pups– we keep wiping their paws but the mud still gets in! Hoping for a sunny Miami day this weekend even though I don’t think it’s going to happen 😦
    Enjoy your soggy weekend!

    • Hey Crew, Jet here. Hi Miss Deanna. Yup, muddy paws all around, Mom just threw in a load of towels from yesterday’s spa day and muddy paw day. Mom’s working at the Pinecrest farmers market today if you want to bring the pups! We see grey clouds, however, it’s supposed to be ok…

  6. I’m not in the tropics, but we did have LOTS of rain this past winter. So I understand the gambling thing. If there’s not betting on it, there oughtta be.

  7. Hi sweet Jetty – well after the torrential rain – it cleared up but Cassie still was hesitant on her walk – I like your Mom never know if she won;t even step outside the door, not go at all, just go quickly on the side of the house, maybe go across the street or a complete walk! Hopefully we;ll all have a quiet rainfree night~

sending goodnight hugs and kisses to you, JJ. Mom, Rachel, Fluffy and Puffy xoxoxox

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Same here as you know. We got in our lovely evening constitutional, had an unexpected house visit with Neve and Miss Beverly. Miss Beverly took pictures of Mom making Sorrel Soup with Almond Milk while they chatted. (Mom will post about it on Kitchen Counselor soon. She said it needs LOTS more seasoning.) Hope Cassie enjoyed the quiet evening like we did.

Oh Miss Wendy? The raindrops fell in our kitchen again… Mom was so sad that the repairs haven’t worked for 1 whole year. 😦

Good Morning Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to you, Mr. David, Jacob, Cassie, Rex and Barkley

  8. We had rain here today & came home from our camping trip early based on reports that it would rain all day long. Guess what? It didn’t. Just the morning shower and then it was sunny all day so we could have stayed camping. Oh well, at least my mom person got a yoga class in.

    Nubbin wiggles,

  9. HAH! There’s a gambling line on EVERYTHING in Vegas. We’re having a drought here and I get to watch the brush fires out my window. The black smoke is scary but far enough away.

    • Hey Keisha, Jet here. Hi Miss Cathy.

You know, Mom thought the same thing about lines in Vegas!!!

Sorry to hear about drought, we’re having quite an extended dry season. We had wild fires in our area last week. So scary… We had a bunch of rain Friday and Saturday, so hopefully, that will help a little.

Please stay safe and careful. 🙂
