Morning from the Tropics

Well, Mr. Isaac took a slight jog to the west last night. Here at Casa Jet, we sit under a Hurricane Warning. Mom fed us and tried to coax (vocab building project VBP) me out of the garage… actually, she asked Rachel to help, since I follow Rachel more easily sometimes. They managed to get me to exit the garage immediate left, switched me to Mom and I emptied my tank. That was it, ol’ Jetty boy went right back into the house.

Mom took Little Miss Regularity for a short walk… yes, she did ALL of her business as usual. Mom said JJ spotted a soccer ball and thought she might like to have a few minutes of practice! JJ tried to bite the ball and then nosed it in proper Airbud style! Mom laughed and told J we would purchase a soccer ball for her soon.

We’re already getting bands of wind and downpours, nothing too scary yet. Mom helped Miss Mary Ann with her patio (that’s our patio in the picture) last night culminating (VBP) in the 3rd shower of the day! Oh, by 6:30 a.m. this morning, our county already had 4,500 people without power. Rachel, who pulled this thingie called an all-nighter (she discovered Little House on the Prairie on her computer and is marathoning as teenagers do…) said we lost power for a minute or two around 2 a.m. That might explain why JJ, Mom, Puffy and I woke up at 2:19 a.m. for a moment.

The National “H” Center says we should receive 65-75 mph winds and 4-10 inches of rain. Mom’s wondering how she will take us out for business over the next 24 hours… should be interesting.

My bestest feline friend, Savvy, and her Guardian, Miss Linda, sent us an email to see if we could guide Miss Jen, Rumpy’s human, since she just moved into “H” land. Once Mom got started, she really got going! (our comment is towards the bottom of their post.) We hope it helps. To all our anipals and their bipeds in the affected areas, we wish you safe passage through the storm. We will unplug our computer fairly soon, so, if we miss Mischief Monday, we’ll catch you as soon as they restore our power! (We are not being pessimistic, most of our readers know we lose power on a good day, let alone a storm day!)

  3. Oh Jetty…stay safe and keep your family safe! We know you are a brave man dog and you will pull through with flying colors! Our human dad and human bro are getting ready to leave for Florida if the hurricane hits. Guess that means Teddy and I will be the men of the house while dad is gone! That might be kind of fun!

    We are keeping fingers and paws crossed that you guys will be okay!

      So far, so good, way better than expected. I’ve been the bravest manly man, residing in Mancave #1 most of the day.

      Please share with human dad and human bro that they will likely need to shift their travel plans since now the worst of it looks like it’s going to hit somewhere between the panhandle and New Orleans. (crossing paws that this is NOT TRUE as they have suffered enough.)

      Oh yes, you and Teddy will serve stupendously as the men of the house! We’re really fine so far and really grateful.

  4. Hey Jet, Jack here. Thinking about you and hoping that you are doing OK in your man cave. Raining here with some wind but no booms. I was out running like the wind in the rain. I love rain. Ginger on the other hand went out, stepped off the outside patio, emptied her tank and headed for the house. She does not like to be wet. She does not like to walk in wet grass. What a princess.

      Yes, I stayed in Mancave #1 most of the day because … wait for it… we have had ELECTRICITY… so Mom’s been on the computer.

      We lucked out and took advantage of two rain/wind band breaks for afternoon potty and FULL evening constitutional. 🙂 I do not mind wind or rain, in fact, I rather enjoy wind in my fur. As you know, I’m terrified of the noises that usually go with it… so in that regard, I’m kind of like Ginger. JJ acts much more in line with you… maybe it’s a golden thing???

      Have you have any effects from Isaac? Hope not… we’re expecting the dirty side over the next 18 hours or so… Thanks for checking.

      • Jack here. Rain finally stopped and we got a full constitutional too. The air conditioner leaked and Mom had to go out in the rain and see if the run off was plugged and flush it.. She was so wet by the time she came in there are still puddles in the garage. Unfortunately that was not the problem so AC man is coming, hopefully tomorrow if the rain permits. We are running it unless the family room is cool, turning it off, and wet vacing the pan. Mom hopes the wood floor is not too damaged. Glad she didn’t think the wet puddle in the hallway was one of us (we never go potty in the house).

        Glad you had a mostly relaxing day. We only had a couple of Booms here. Mom said to tell your Mom that if there ever is a big hurricane and we are out of the path and you are not, everyone is welcome here. I do like to chase cats so he would be better confined in one of the rooms upstairs, other than that we could all have a big hurricane party.

        Oh NO, now we think our former A/C woes are contagious through the blog… 😦

        Sorry Miss Rebecca had to work so hard and crossing paws and fingers about the flooring, we get it!

        Maybe your machine should be our NEXT mischief Monday candidate. hmpf.

        Of COURSE Miss Rebecca would not think it was you two.. pshawwww…

        My Mom said to tell your Mom, likewise in reverse! and… deepest thank you, that’s indeed kind. Yes, Puffy would do well apart from the fab 4 (K9s that is!)

      Guess what? Mom should play the ponies! We went out for afternoon potty and evening FULL constitutional… and BOTH times, as we either were right inside the door or on the neighbor’s yard, the next downpour began! Phew.

      We feel really grateful so far… now we have the dirty side to get through!

      Thanks so much, the storm has passed with much less damage than expected. We are SO GRATEFUL… one more day of rain/wind bands should do it. We have some street flooding and lots of leaves and branches down, no biggie.

      Yup, we’re doing really well considering what could have been. I’m still scared this morning with the wind/rain bands. Mom can’t get me out for business yet… 90 minutes after breakfast…

      Grateful to share that we’re okie dokie! Our tarp protecting our leaky roof shredded, otherwise, no problems. Flooding and debris in the region, however, we were so lucky. Mom’s going to slide the shutters open after work today! Thanks for your kind thoughts, please send them forward to the gulf region… 🙂

      Luckily, over the last few years, we’ve been lucky. Mom said that before I joined the family… about 7 years ago, this blustery lady, Hurricane Wilma knocked down and killed our loquat tree, took out our phones for 30 days, and destroyed half our pool screening, damaging our pool. 😦 Mr. Hurricane Andrew, 20 years ago, caused $90,000 damage and Mom and Mr. Fred had just moved in… no furniture!
