Virtual Memory? Too Low … Huh?

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Boy did we have other plans for you today…

However, the virtual highway had other ideas… as did Mom’s computer.  Over the last few days, (ok, weeks), Mom’s computer has taken longer to think whether it wants to do this thingie called toggle between the different functions or even load features like Word, Outlook, Google Chrome, or her recipe software.  Sometimes, it can take as long as 3-5 min. (seems like FOREVER in dog years) to load your wonderful posts and forget commenting and hitting send…

I know I’ve shared before that Mom receives about 300-400 emails/day from her Kitchen Counselor account and her personal account.  I’ve watched and she really tries to winnow (vocab builder) them down while addressing the items requiring her attention.  That’s besides her job, jobs… Whoops, I digressed again.

So, yesterday, Mr. Computer seemed to drag it’s virtual little toes through virtual muck and then it popped this little sign up saying virtual memory low.  HUH?

Who understands this stuff?

All Mom knew is that she better start hitting that delete button a lot more.  I gave Mom time off today to get some of that done.  She’s deleted about 600  emails and eliminated 36 items from her recycle bin – Yay Mom!

Thanks for bearing with us, we really have much more interesting stuff to say and share… however, gotta roll with the technical issues first.

Another great, hit that delete button, day!

  1. OMG your mom sounds like mine!! Mom said to tell you that she can totally relate! She gets over 300 emails a day on AOL (mostly junk) and on Road Runner over 200……..she soooooooo knows how you feel and said her heart goes out to you and hang in there!

    • Hey Dakota, Jet here. Hi Miss Caren.

Dude, tell Mom thanks a ton… she asked me to share that it’s like yet another full time job… and she already juggles 3-4 depending on time of the year! :)

Oh, Mom said I should thank you both for your empathy (vocab builder!)

  2. hey Jet,

I am furry impressed with your technical vocabulary! Sorry to read your mom’s computer is being a pain. Hope she is able to fix it and get it to run quickly and smoothly again. My human, K, uses Mozilla Firefox and loves it. No Google Chrome for us. Perhaps your mom can switch? Anyway, paws crossed your mom gets her computer feeling better. I look forward to reading of your interesting stuff!

    Suka

    • Hey Suka, Jet here. Hi Miss K.

Thanks for the compliment, unfortunately, I’ve had to learn a great deal of “computer stuff” at Scooby Doo Academy to keep up with Mom’s woes.

We used Firefox for about 7 years and then it went bazonkers…

So glad you enjoy our posts, means the world to us. :)

    • Hey it’s Jet here.

Oh boy, what a game. By the way, well deserved congrats on Game 1 victory. :)

Mom buried her head in my fur a bit during the last minute and peaked through the wispy hairs! She asked me to share that she thinks these two teams are playing at such a high level. She said your Thunder fans are about the best she’s ever seen on tv… boy you guys are loyal, supportive and LOUD! You could sure teach HEAT fans a thing or 3!

Best of luck on Sunday night… :)

      • It did get exciting at the end!

Thunder fans are pretty awesome and to go to a game is unbelievable! Don’t tell anybody, but I get so taken in with the people and everything going on that I don’t pay much attention to the game. It’s better for me to watch it on television! The Thunder has come in and taken over Oklahoma City…it is crazy!

        Well…good luck tomorrow night!

      • Hey it’s Jet here.

Mom asked me to share that she knows what you mean. She concentrates much better at home, too, especially when she wears her new glasses for distance! (whoops, probably should not have divulged (vocab builder) that!)

Your city deserves it… can you imagine how Seattle feels?

Good luck to you as well… I hope our fans do us proud like your fans did.

  3. Hi sweet Jetty – Man aren’t computer problems so annoying and time consuming!! Hope all is working good now for Mom!

I worked today sampling pizza and I have a three day job sampling beauty products at Costco so I;m gonna hit the sack!

Sending RAMS (computer term!!) of goodnight hugs and kisses to you, JJ, Mom, Rachel and Pluffy xoxoxo

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy.

Pizza? Did you say Pizza? Gooey cheese bread kinda pizza? Any tidbits for ‘ol Jetty boy? Not into beauty products especially, the manly man that I am and all… Good luck though. :)

Miss Wendy, I helped my team win last night! Mom grabbed me and hugged me really tight during the last minute!

Sending CPUs (we think that’s a computer term)of good day Jetty kisses and JJ hugs to you, Mr. David, Jacob, Cassie, Rex and Barkley xoxoxoxox (Did Cassie do ok last night?)

  4. yo, Jetty…so like my Mom has some tech issues too…so she is kind’a, like well, ya know…old and stuff…BUT she is pretty tech savvy (yeah, I know, another pun!)..anyways…she suggests your Mom may have a vyrus, or worm or something…and we know we have somethin’ hiding in our IE browser…so Mom is gonna get her tek guy over to search stuff…we are with you guys…totally understand…hang in there…be strong

    • Hey Savvy, Jetty here.

Just love when you throw in those puns, you savvy feline!!! Yeah, we worried about those wiggly things, too… want to hear something unfortunate? Mom called her nice as could be tech guy in January with some issues and pestered for a while… guess what? still waiting for a call back, email, something… :( and… Mom’s biscuit $ jar is well… almost empty, so, we have to be this thingie called patient. Knowing you understand keeps us strong and hanging in there… you too cutie pie. :)

  5. Jetty, I’m not sure deleting the 600 emails will help remove the “low virtual memory” issue. If you’re not using Google Chrome, you might want to consider switching to it rather than Firefox.

Here are some links you might wanna try to fix it:

    http://askbobrankin.com/how_to_fix_low_virtual_memory_errors.html

Whichever is easier to follow for your mommy ^^.

    Good luck!

    Huggies and Cheese,

    Haopee

    • Hey it’s Jet here. Hi Haopee.

I love being called Jetty by my friends. :)

Mom does use Google Chrome, she asked me to share that she switched in January… ish… She said she will check out those sites over the weekend…

You sure are super smart Haopee…

  6. Best of luck with that. Please tell mom to make sure all of her stuff is backed up to an external drive. My hard drive died about two months ago and it was a nightmare!! Sending good thoughts your way.

    • Hey Sampson, Hey Delilah, Jet here. Hi Miss Jodi.

Shhh… don’t tell Mom I’m sharing this, she will feel embarrassed… she has one of those external thingies, however, she forgets how to use the program to get it backed up… :(
