Wordless Wednesday – Graceful Swimming…

Hey It’s Jet Here.

We found another awesome picture from our friends at PhotoBotos.  We selected this photo by Jody MacDonald because the elephant almost looks as if he’s smiling underwater.  He reminded Mom of her favorite sea mammal, the dolphin, for some reason.

Now retired, Rajan lives the life he deserves.

Another great swimming day.

Thanks to blogpaws for hosting the Wordless Wednesday Hop.  (Check out their new badge!)

Tasty Tuesday – We LOVE When Ish Visits

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Thanks to Sugar and Kol for initiating Tasty Tuesdays, today is our eighth  participating post!

This will almost be a Wordless Wednesday type post…

Besides giving us lots of attention in a short amount of time, the BEST part of Ish’s visit is this:

Mom has the AUDACITY (vocabulary builder) to deliver all but 1 dozen.  Mom, what about ‘ol Jetty boy?  Don’t I deserve a dozen myself?  I will even concede and share half with Little Miss I’ll Have What He’s Having!

Another great EGG day.

Mischief Monday – No On, No Off

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Thanks to Alfie’s BlogSnoopy’s Dog BlogMy Brown Newfies and Luna, A Dog’s Life…for sponsoring the hop!  Click on any of the sponsors to join the hop.

Mom, JJ and I frequently watch TV in Mom’s bed.  She has this thingie called a DVR which allows us to watch our favorite shows like The Dog Whisperer, Dogs 101, Tanked, as well as lots of Miami Heat games.  (If you’ve read our blog for awhile, you know Mom LOVES basketball.)  She says my handsome black fur is perfect for the Heat’s colors (red/black with a little white, orange and yellow thrown in.)  Oops, I digressed again.

Anyway, last week, when Mom felt ill, she recorded the Heat/Pacer game 6, thinking she would catch up when she felt better.  My human sister, Rachel, kept Mom company until she wanted to go to sleep.  Mom thought she would watch the game to distract her from her tummy discomfort.  She picked up the remote control and… nothing…  She pushed two buttons in sequence, just in case our paws had confused the remote, which happens on occasion.  Nothing… She called Rachel in to turn on the set manually, determined the tv made her feel worse, called Rachel in again to turn it off and decided to deal with the remote later.

The next afternoon, she tried again…nothing.  Once the tv went on manually, everything worked except ON/OFF and VOLUME.  Now here in the tropics, when the air conditioner goes on, you always need to increase the volume and vice versa when the cycle ends.  Also, those tricky TV people make the commercials louder than the programs.

Mom tried switching the batteries, switching the remote from the family room… nothing…

Mom’s TV will celebrate its 20th birthday later this year, so, she appreciates the service it provides.  For now, we think the mischief belongs to the remote!!!

Another great, except for No ON/OFF, day.

Before and After…

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Oh gosh, I thought this day would NEVER arrive.  Check it out… I woke up and I still looked like this…

We had breakfast, went for a walk and then we saw the towels come out of the closet.  Mom said, “Come here, Jetty, guess what?  This is coming OFF!” and she unsnapped nine times and poof after 4 weeks I was a free boy!

We followed Mom into her room, then bathroom and laid on the floor for pre-spa comb outs.

Afterwards, I fell for the Zuke’s treat encouragement and trotted into the shower.  JJ needed some convincing.

Mom shampooed JJ and I and told each of us how pretty/handsome we looked and smelled.  Oh she’s a charmer that Mom!  (Jetty, I meant every word, I love how you two smell when freshly Buddy Washed!)

Mom gave each of us a quick towel dry in the shower and then sprung us.  JJ did her side stroke doggy paddle action on the tile while I, Jet the Sophisticated, hopped on Mom’s soft bed and rolled on her comforter!

Mom prefers when we drip dry in the office, on the tile while she works on the computer.  So, here we are.

Another great, I’m cone free, day!

Moving Right Along

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Mom and Little Miss Wonder Dog slipped out on me again this morning.  Ok, maybe slipped out is a slight exaggeration.  Let’s just say Ol’ Jetty Boy fell for the “Jetty, look it’s a special treat” line from Mom again.  In fairness, Mom RARELY offers a pig ear because they’re greasy and a bit stinky to her, yet nectar from the heavens for me!  Oh, I’ve digressed again.

Anyway, considering this week’s craziness surrounding the garage door… is it up, is it down? Is it fixed? Can we use it? Do we go out the front door or the garage door?  … falling for the pig ear distraction is not that embarrassing.

As Mom told me…

JJ hopped right into the car so easily, Mom forgot to bring J’s leash!  She held JJ by the collar to bring her into Dr. Shaffer’s office and they offered their temporary purple leash right away.  JJ remained composed while happily visiting with Disney and her family.

This is the second week, JJ went “deer in the headlights”, when seeing a human in scrubs.  Dr. Shaffer came into the front to say hi to Disney and JJ and JJ half-heartedly wagged hello.  Then, one of the vet techs came out to take JJ to the scale and she snapped the leash’s little metal thingie and slinked herself right out the door into the crowded parking lot of the strip center.

Mom and the vet tech tried to call her back with no luck.  Mom resorted to the “JJ, let’s go in the car,” line and Little Miss “Not So Perfect” trotted into the back seat.  This time, they used 2 purple leashes, just in case and brought my sister back in.

To Mom’s dismay, after feeding JJ a lot more kibble (behind my Elizabethan Collar) this week, Little Miss “We Want HER Metabolism” held last week’s weight.  To Mom’s delight, JJ’s girlie girl area no longer exhibits irritation, her scar got the “looking good” from Dr. Shaffer and her UTI seems to be resolving appropriately.  Dr. Shaffer gave Little Miss Waxy Ears another earful of helping medicine with accompanying ear massage.  No visit for 2 weeks!

Another great, except for the great office escape, day.

Can’t Believe We Forgot to Post This Earlier

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Mom and I share the blame for the late notification.  She put this item in our folder so we would not forget and guess what?  Yup…  Even when the formal events end… you can keep the theme going!

Anyway, as you may recall, handome/gorgeous black dogs/cats have a 40% less chance of adoptions.  We thought Back in Black was a really cool initiative, especially with the upcoming release of the Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones sequel, Men in Black 3.

Don’t you just LOVE the LOGO!

Hey Mom?  Where are my shades and tie?

Another great Back in Black day.

Tidbits

Hey It’s Jet Here.

I thought Mom and I would catch you up on some items from recent posts.  You have commented so generously and thoughtfully, we deeply appreciate it.

  • JJ, “Little Miss Wonder Dog”, is recovering as if she cannot recall she even had emergency surgery.  Her energy, well let’s just say 100% understates reality by about 100%!
  • Saturday:  Your comments about K9 military designations and benefits made us feel warm and fuzzy inside.  Even more exciting… Miss Ledy Vankavage, (my first blogspondent interview), created a petition you can sign at one of our favorite sites, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.  (link forthcoming… right now it keeps posting with Mom’s info.)
  • Mischief Monday:
  • The garage door mischief continues on and has unfortunately intensified.  The naughty company supposedly agreed to send an inspector to determine whether after more than a week of automatic up and down movement, the mischief is mechanical ( Mom pays) or electrical (Mom doesn’t pay) like Mom insists.  On the surprisingly positive side, a garage door blogger, Mr. Joe, sent Mom a technical thought on the subject via comments – How nice was that? 2nd update: Naughty company did not show as promised today at prescribed time.  Mom went ballistic.  Nice person eventually came and guess what?  The problem WAS ELECTRICAL: just like Mr. Joe and Mom SAID IT WAS!
  • Roof?  Well, so far, the blue tarp is keeping Casa Jet dry in the kitchen.
  • Air Conditioner: Minor setback – water leaked out Monday night.  Luckily, sleep deprived Mom heard the water pouring out at 1 a.m. and turned the machine off.  Best news: Covered by warranty, no biscuit $ required.
  • Tasty Tuesday:  Remember a few weeks back when Mom made items for class and neglected us?  Well, watch for next Tuesday, because obviously, she did not learn from the error of her ways!
  • Great news: Remember our friend Ish?  Well he’s on his way with another egg delivery.  We thought the weather would foul (get it? foul?) his delivery plans!

I wish Mom could transcribe more, however, JJ and I are freaking out in the 3 hours of pouring rain and booms.  Mom feels this thing called frustrated as I try to climb on top of the printer, or her thigh and JJ whimpers, shakes, pants and hovers on top of Mom.

Another great (minus the storm) catching up day.

P.S. Mom had such a rough time with us, and the naughty company, that her posting got delayed until now!  (uh… sorry Mom.)

Wordless Wednesday – Thai Massage

Hey It’s Jet Here.

One of the first bloggers to follow us was PhotoBotos.  Each day they offer one amazing photograph with a narrative (vocabulary builder) from the photographer.  Mom thought we could handle that and followed them.  Recently, they posted this photo from Romain Mattei taken in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Mom felt a little envious of the feline, feeling the need for a Thai massage herself!

Another great, can you massage a little to the left, day!

Tasty Tuesday – Fishing Cats?

Hey It’s Jet Here.

Thanks to Sugar and Kol for initiating Tasty Tuesdays, today is our seventh participating post!

You know Mom loves to research and reads a zillion items for her Kitchen Counselor newsletter, Servings.  JJ and I, her trusty Kitchen K-9 listen carefully when Mom shares interesting kitchen info, particularly when it has to do with 4 legged beings! Well, she came across this article and video  from ABC News about fishing cats.  Oh, it’s a sad story…

In this far away place called Thailand, a rare breed of cat with webbed feet and a pointed head, called Fishing Cats are in DANGER.  Why?  Well, in one word… SHRIMP.

According to biologist, Namfom Cutter, “Shrimp farmers dig big holes and raise hundreds of thousands of shrimp, which are then sorted, put on ice and shipped out.  The farms threaten fishing cats in two ways, Cutter said. The first is that the cats are losing their natural habitat to metastasizing shrimp farms, and are sometimes driven to kill chickens belonging to local villagers. Then those villagers turn around and kill the cats.”

What can humans do to help prevent the extinction of fishing cats?  DO NOT BUY SHRIMP FROM THAILAND.  In fact, did you know you can download a safe seafood pocket guide to carry with you when you shop?  Yup, Mom told me.   I know that’s a tall order, but gosh, a cat species going that thingie called extinct?  That’s super serious and like…FOREVER… and not forever in a good way like forever home.

“Cutter and the other fishing cat conservationists said they aren’t trying to shut down the shrimp farms, but just to get them to operate more sustainably and carefully. But what would really help, she said, would be a little pressure from us.

From all of us 4 legged beings, THANKS FOR HELPING.

Another great, sustainable shrimp please, day.
