Eat Mom’s Books

Hey, It’s Jet Here.

A while back, Mom came across a wonderful website for her Kitchen Counselor newsletter, Servings, as well as her personal cookbook collection called Eat Your Books.  The premise:

  • You input the names of cookbooks, magazines and blogs that you follow,
  • When you want a recipe, you can search all of your personal sources in seconds,
  • If you want, you can then grab the source in your own home!

Mom reads A LOT.  She describes her speed as that of a turtle, however, she happily travels down the pages one by one, whether the page belongs to a book, magazine or a computer screen.  She always has reading material in bed, using anything from a strand of yarn to a magnet, to a laminated style bookmark.  Over the years, I may have, on occasion, batted a book with my paw, or swished one with my tail sending them flying to the floor.  One of my more mischievous moves would cause the book to fall behind the bed.

Mom recently finished two books by this guy, Clive Cussler.  She loves his books when she needs a fast read.  Since she follows several of his series, they feel like old friends.  Auntie Liz gave her a book by Geraldine Brooks called People of the Book for Hannukah.  Mom began reading it last Sunday night.

Day one: Mom’s yarn bookmark went missing.  JJ and I blamed the felines.  Day two: Mom replaced it with a bigger, sturdier bookmark.  Day three: Mom went to read a few more pages before bed and this is what she found.

Now, I’ve already confessed my literary adventures, so I’m not throwing anyone under the food bowl, but…. It wasn’t ME.  I would suggest it might have been a reddish/golden K9 of the female persuasion.  Mom’s a trooper, she’s gently continues turning the pages.

Another great, literary day.

  1. Hey Jet,

Sorry to hear you got busted when it wasn’t even you buddy – that K9 sure has a good accomplice in you for not telling on her!! 🙂

Maybe said K9 could get Mum a new book for Valentines? Just a thought… 🙂

    Have a fun day

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

    • Hey Snoopy, Jet here.

Good News! Mom knew down deep it wasn’t me. After one quick look into my eyes, we didn’t mention it again.

Oh Snoop, love the book idea… except… JJ and I do not have any biscuit $

You too… Since Mom’s at work, I’m probably taking a well deserved siesta since I woke Mom at 4:30 a.m.!

      • Hey Jet,

Glad the truth prevailed in the end buddy, and you got to relax and enjoy your sweet dreams……

Oh, don’t worry about the biscuit $ – just order online and charge it to Mum – now that’s Mischief!! Tee Hee

        Your pal Snoopy 🙂

      • Hey, it’s Jet here. Hi Snoopy.

Yup, Truth, Justice and the American Way! Thanks for the support, dude.

Yeah, that would really be mischief! Read today’s post, that’s how I decided to handle the situation.

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day with your family.

        Your pal, Jet.

  2. Hi sweet Jet – OH No – She (not mentioning names!!) ate Mom’s book -well – she is the chewminator after all!!

I love books also – so relaxing to read before bed! Mom is such a good sport – she’s the best! I loved hearing about your adventures with Moms book like swishing it with your tail! made me smile!

My sis and bil went home late morning (boo!) spent day cleaning and straigtening up the house- so I;m pooped! off to bed –

sending so many hugs and kisses to you, JJ, Mom, Rachel (did she like the Grammy show fashions??), fluffy and Puffy xoxoxo

    • Hey, it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy. Indeed, her moniker remains on point!

Miss Wendy, are you sure you and Mom are not related? You two have so much in common. Yes, my exceedingly fluffy, strong tail packs quite a swish!

Awww… I know you already miss your sis and bil, Mom recommends this thing called face time on this apple telephone thingie!

Yes, Miss Wendy, you so deserve a rest, sweet K9 dreams! Hope your tivoing the Westminster. We’ll discuss this more later in the week.

Rachel has the flu, so, no Grammys for her. Mom watched the WHOLE thing… (she LOVES BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN… being a Jersey girl after all)… she liked it alot except for this person called Ms. Minaj’s performance. (she fast forwarded). Mom’s not so talented in the fashion dept. so, she’ll take your feedback!

Sending Jetty kisses and JJ hugs right back to you, Mr. David, Jacob, Cassie, Rex, and Barkley

    • Hey, it’s Jet here. Hi Miss Wendy. We’re about to wake her up to see if she is ok to go to school. Mom and I will let her know you’re thinking about her.

Did you have a restful night?

Extra Jetty kisses for you too Miss Wendy. xoxoxoxo

    • Hey, it’s Jet here. Hi Jen. Yes, however, since Mom went to this place called law school, she’s usually pretty good about this stuf called following the trail of evidence before anyone gets the “naughty” lecture.

  3. Your mother is a turtle?? Well, my mommy is also a turtle when comes to reading, she can only read 2 books in a month.

By the way…you’ve done quite a mischief there Jet 😉

    • Hey, it’s Jet here. Hi Kroten. Thanks for the mischief compliment, however, I must pass it along to the golden/reddish K9 (not mentioning names to protect the well… not exactly innocent…)

Seeing as you are such a cool turtle, our Moms must be awesome, too!
